iOS 7 "No Sim Card Installed"

I just downloaded iOS 7 yesterday and ever since then I randomly keep getting "No Sim Card Installed" messeges. I've never had this problem until I installed the new iOS. Is anyone else having this problem? If so do you know how to fix it?

I have the same problem, however I have NOT upgraded to IOS 7. I lost faith in the IOS updates when they took away Google Maps with initial version of IOS 6. So now, I wait for a few point releases until the bugs get identified and resolved. I have an iPhone 5, running IOS 6.1.4 on AT&T, so thre are no recent IOS updates here. My particular situation seems to be purely hardware related. It just started last weekend, and happened again today. The only connection betweent he two occurances seems to be environmental. When it happened on the weekend, I was working in the yard. When it happeded to day, had been in a hot car for about 30 minutes. They may be unrelated, but perhaps heat and/or humidity are affecting the SIM / slot connection in my situation.

Here is what the Apple store did for me (since my phone was still under warranty) they replaced the entire phone and the "Genious Bar" employee told me that it was a hardware issue, but really was not an issue they deal with on a daily basis....In either case, the new phone has not had that problem as of yet....It's on ios 7.0.3 where it will stay.

Your post was a few weeks ago. I was wondering how this fix was working? My phone just started the No SIM card Installed this morning and I tried cleaning the recepticle with a lense cleaner wipe and it hasn't helped yet. I was also told you use a pencil eraser on the sim card to help get any dirt off since that is what they do in factories on those little circuit boards. Right now it is going back and forth between having service and no sim card. Very frustrating.

After cleaning inside the SIM card slot with alcohol, my iPad 2 worked fine for 2 1/2 days then again started to intermittently give the "no SIM card" message. And again, for a couple of more days I could remedy this by turning airport mode on and off. And then again, it's stopped working altogether. I paid a lot of money less than two years ago for Apple's most expensive iPad model and since I need 3G service, am now checking out other brands.

Just bought a brand new iPhone 5S earlier this afternoon, which came out of the box running 7.0.3.

Literally 2 hours after getting home it's starting giving me an intermittent "no sim" warning.

I'd say in the past 30 minutes it's swapped back and forth between picking up 3 to 4 bars of AT&T and "no sim" at least half a dozen times.

Upgrading to 7.0.4 to see if that doesn't fix the issue (doubt it), but either way this is super sloppy work on Apple's part considering how much coin I just dropped.

I just went through every single one of these troubleshooting steps outlined here with Apple Care on [my wife's] line, and still seeing this issue.

I have a sneaking suspicion that it's actually the SIM card not fitting tightly into the casing. When I took it out and popped it back in, it was much looser than I expected within the holder. There were a few times where it was showing "no sim", and I was able to get it to register the sim just by smacking the right side with the palm of my head, re-seating the sim card.

I used to product manage smartphones for Motorola back in the day, and I'm pretty confident that iPhones are manufactured to much tighter clearances than the sim card itself.

Regardless, I'm bringing the whole thing back to the Apple Store because I just don't want to deal with any more troubleshooting.

I got iOS 7 on my iphone 5 a few days, ever since then it started saying No SIM everyday. The first time it said it I had to restore the phone and reinstall.
Ever since then a simple restart of the phone fixes it.
Anyone who says this is not iOS 7 is unbelievable even comical.

No, cleaning your SIM card is not the issue and will not help a thing. Its iOS7 and thats a fact. Never happened on any of my iphones ever till iOS 7 and then instantly happened the day I installed it and has continued everyday since.

This started for me earlier in the week. On Wednesday it popped up again. Thursday it was twice, today multiple times (i.e. increasing pattern of frequency.) I can temp resolve by rebooting the phone. Called AT&T seeking the APN, but was directed to try resetting the network settings which would reset the APN in the process. Now waiting to see if this resolves the prob... Not happy with Apple at the moment.

Apple has a BIG issue with these "No SIM card" problems that they are not adequately addressing. I bought my iPhone 5 when they first came out to replace a Droid X. I am sorry I made the switch. The first SIM card issue occurred about three months into the phone & re-occurred once every month or two afterwards. During this first year and a quarter – or so – I was able to mostly resolve by turning the phone off, removing the SIM card, reinstalling, and then turning the phone back on. But in the last few months (since upgrading to iOS 7 – not sure if a coincidence), I’ve had it happen three times where I had to go in and get the SIM card replaced! It happens at random while sitting in my pocket, so I have missed several important calls.

APPLE: This is a phone... A phone where it cannot be trusted to receive or make phone calls! Get your act together. I don’t know if some software/firmware issue is screwing up the SIM logically, or if the phone is somehow “burning them out” physically. But the bottom line is that the phone is worthless with these unreliable SIM card issues. The fact that I really like the features of my iPhone 5 and of iOS cannot outweigh these issues.
