iOS 7 "No Sim Card Installed"

I just downloaded iOS 7 yesterday and ever since then I randomly keep getting "No Sim Card Installed" messeges. I've never had this problem until I installed the new iOS. Is anyone else having this problem? If so do you know how to fix it?

iPhone 5, iOS 7

After reviewing responses to this thread, I don’t think replacing the SIM has anything to do with the problem. While that may resolve the problem, sounds like some have had to do this repeatedly. Personally I don’t want to monkey with that if I don’t have to. As an alternative, try resetting your network settings which resets the APN. No need to pop your SIM out, no need to replace it, no need to squirrel all over the house looking for a paper clip.

Went into the Verizon store last night and they put in the 4th - that's right, 4th - new sim card since I got my iPhone 5 a year and a half ago. Because I pay for an extended warranty, they are sending me a new (I assume refurbished) iPhone due to these multiple sim card failures. I can only hope it lasts for another six months when I will get a new phone. (I am definately considering going back to an android phone although I love the look, feel, and features of the iPhone when it's working).

As others have reported, at first shutting the phone off and on again, or removing and reseating the sim card (with the phone off) seemed to fix the issue temporarily, but in these last months none of that worked & I've had to go in and get new sim cards. There is something definately and obviously wrong in these instances - especially with so many people reporting the problems. And again, how reliable is a phone if while it's in your pocket you never know if it isn't ringing because nobody is calling or because one of these sim card issues has randomly occurred? Very frustrating.

I am also running iOS 7.1.1, updated when it came out so its been working without any issues for awhile, however this error has been occurring over the last 2 weeks, about every other day now. I'm using Verizon as my carrier.

I have been rebooting each time to get the network back. I going to try the last resort option on the Apple Support page - Restore the iphone. :-(

I was having the same problem and rebooting it seemed to fix it, but it started happening more often and today after rebooting it powered back up with an immediate "no sim card installed" message. I called Verizon Support and was told they are upgrading their network to "XLTE" (a faster version of LTE) and the SIM card may have gotten disconnected from the network. He had me go into Settings-->General-->Reset-->Reset Network Settings. It requires you to input your passcode and then asks you to confirm you want to "Reset Network Settings." After I did this it rebooted and is working fine, for now. The Verizon rep said if it happens again I should go to a corporate Verizon store and get them to replace the SIM card.

I started having the "No SIM card" randomly since upgrading to IOS7. I tried everything listed here - I believe some of the issues in this thread are hardware related, but mine seemed like a software problem and nothing helped.

Finally, I turned off the WiFi Setting "Ask to join networks" and the problem has not happened again for 3 weeks. My theory was that a background app triggered a popup that was hidden and thus locked up the whole communication layer.

So...update...new SIM did nothing...took to Apple, they got the serial number from the iPad and said the only option I had was to get a new iPad, there was nothing they could do with SIM issues. I tried resetting network settings - which worked for about 2 hours and randomly while working on it, pop-up box "NO SIM INSTALLED", I've rebooted, switched from airplane mode and back, even reset iPad...guess its a hardware issue and Apple doesn't work on SIM readers. Interesting thing is that when I asked about trading in for the new iPad that they said I needed now that this one is "broken", they said they don't even check the SIM readers for trade-in value...I sometimes wonder if these things happen after having them for a while, so you are FORCED to get new equipment!!!
