Hello Everyone,
The new facetime audio icon is not showing against any of my contacts on my iPhone 5, showing on the iPad mini as expected but not on the 5.
I have signed out and in, disabled and re-enabled, even changed my apple ID password (no I didn't have much hope in that one either)
Does anyone else have this problem? and more importantly........ Any ideas how to get the icon so I can start enjoying VOIP calls???????

A friend of mine has the same problem with a 4S. My iPhone is showing the icon but when i try to call her it says that she was "not available for facetime audio".
Still no Idea why.
i have exactly same issue.
i talked with the apple care, and they couldn't give me a reason why.
i am using iphone 5, and bought it in china. how about you?
they are assumming that this is happening maybe because of the country restriction.

Indeed yes. Both my wife's phone and mine were purchased in china and they both have this issue. However my ipad mini was also purchased in china and that works fine. FaceTime works fine in all devices. FaceTime audio only on the ipad. I guess apple couldn't care is no help as normal.
Yep the Said iPhone is Chinese, too.

I'd like to know if it's a carrier based block or phone based.
A thought comes to mind. Are you using a Chinese SIM card as well? I noticed on our last trip to Europe that even back in Europe the Chinese SIM card blocked sites such as Facebook without a VPN. That leads me to wonder if there is a DNS issue with the Chinese providers for FaceTime audio. After all, if I can use full FaceTime on 3G then why restrict audio only????
Well, I checked apple webpage, and find out there is no restriction of facetime in Chinese iphones. Really i agreed with your idea. If the facetime video is working fine in China, why not the audio, right? Right now, I am living in South Korea with SKT career service, and basically every other features from ios7 works fine. i am planning to visit Apple Service Center tomorrow, and hope they can answer my question, or at least, get a new iphone that works with facetime audio. I don't want to have a phone that has a restriction.

I have the same problem:
My wife and I both have iPhone 5 with the same Chinese SIM cards and both updated to ios7 the same day.
My wife's IPhone 5 was purchased in Australia and and there is no problem with Facetime audio.
My iPhone 5 was purchased in China and Facetime audio does not work.
Facetime video works fine for both.
I have checked all setting and they are the same on both phones.
yeah I guess it is chinese iphone which is causing this problem.
I wanna know why this is occuring only with iphone purchased in China.
I want to hear the reason from Apple.
I wonder if this is more of a bug than a restriction. I base that on the fact that my Chinese purchased ipad mini does not have the problem. FaceTime audio is working.
Over to you apple. What's the answer please?
Have you tried setting the FaceTime caller ID as your email address?
I have a factory unlocked iPhone 5. I also had "call failed" popup when I have my ID as my phone number. As soon as I switched it over to my email address, it started working.
I'm hoping this change is permanently required, but it's not a terrible solution.

It is because country restriction.
Go to General - About - Model.If it ends with CH/A, the FaceTime Audio icon won't show in iOS 7. It began at iOS 7 Beta5.

Perhaps it's a problem with certain carriers. Could it make a difference that I am using straight talk, an MVNO of att?
