Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again

Hi. I have been getting the error "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." For imessage and facetime on my ipad 4 16gb wifi only. This only started when I upgraded to ios7. i have tried resetting all and my network settings, changing the DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.8.4.4.4.4, setting my time and date to automatic, and changing my apple id password. I tried to use another person's apple id to sign in but I'm getting the same error. I'm pretty sure my network connection is not the problem because my parents are both using iphones and have upgraded to ios7 but imsg and facetime still works for them. Help?

iPad, iOS 7, null

I had this problem on my iMac - FaceTime kept asking me to sign in and then wouldn't work and told me to check network etc. This happened several times and yet FaceTime was working fine on my iPad.

I tried turning off my Mac and when I turned it back on and went to FaceTime, signed in and magic it all worked again no problem.

It was that simple for me so worth a try!

I had this exact same problem on my mac - restarting didn't help and neither did a couple of other forums. I finally found the fix and it was totally illogical - open date and time preferences by clicking on the clock in the top right of the screen, then check the box 'set date and time automatically:" After that, sign back i by going to messages > preferences > account > imessage sign in. Worked immediately after!
