iTunes 11.1 How to stop automatically playing next podcast
Hi, I'd like to prevent iTunes from auto-playing another podcast after one finishes on the desktop version of iTunes. I can't find a setting option to turn that off. Thanks

Yes, this was something I liked before that they broke. Plus, it plays newest to oldest. If you're going to force me to listen to the next podcast, at least do it oldest to newest!
Just uncheck all of the podcasts in one group. Like, for example, uncheck all of the podcasts in the "Welcome to Night Vale" podcast group.
Good idea, but it would be nice if there was a button that allowed you to choose between "continuous play" and "single play". Otherwise there is a lot of checking and unchecking involved.
This itunes issue is annoying....but here's how I "fixed" it on my pc...
1) Go to the list view (that's my perfered way of selecting them)
2) Click on "edit" then "select all"
3) Go to the list and right click on it
4) Select "uncheck all" in the menu
and that did it for me, when I tested it, it only played the one I selected.
Hope this helps!
It seems autoplay is only happening when I am in "Unplayed" view. My solution is to select the desired podcast in "Unplayed" view (because its easier to find what I want), then switch to "My Podcasts". Your selection will remain active and appear at the top of the list. Playing from here does not auto-play the next podcast.
KS33182: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
here's what i just did last night b4 going to sleep...
While this work around isn't great either.... It's a lot easier then scripts and checking unchecking everything....
Right click on the Podcast i want to play... Show in Finder.... Right click on the file ... Select Open With and choose Quicktime player...
then it's open all by itself in Quicktime and will be the only Podcast Played...
then I'm off to sleep...
*****.. and i hope they fix the problem in an upcoming Itunes update.. but it works for now....
Thanks, hobartimus! Very helpful!
Clicking the Shuffle icon to blue didn't help me with the autoplay problem.
I am at a loss to understand how Apple could so utterly foul-up iTunes with a simple .1 incremental update.
iTunes 11.1.1 does not fix the continuous podcast playing.
I have the same problem. I just want iTunes to stop playing when the podcast is over. I don't want to have to baby-sit it. iTunes 11.1.1 has the same problem. I had such hope...
The only way I've found to stop auto-play of podcasts is to go into List view and Uncheck everything.
323818 and Gleet's solution worked for me too. If the "shuffle" is on it won't play the next podcast. Ludicrous logic and UX Apple!.
It seems to be a bug in iTunes that you cannot turn off continuous play when listening to podcasts. But the shuffle button works as intended, every podcast has the "skip when shuffling" option checked by default, so it will skip podcasts when shuffling your songs or albums in playlists that includes podcasts or when shuffling the entire library. I also noticed that turning on the shuffle feature for podcasts does not enable the shuffle function for audio files, but is preserved when returning to podcasts. It definitely fixes the continuous play issue as all podcasts will be skipped....
Where is the "skip when shuffling" option located?
in iTunes, select podcast, click file/get info, choose options tab, bottom check boxes
