iTunes 11.1 How to stop automatically playing next podcast
Hi, I'd like to prevent iTunes from auto-playing another podcast after one finishes on the desktop version of iTunes. I can't find a setting option to turn that off. Thanks

Yes, this was something I liked before that they broke. Plus, it plays newest to oldest. If you're going to force me to listen to the next podcast, at least do it oldest to newest!
Glad to find this group! I just submitted the same question entitled "Continuous Play" before is showed me this thread.
For me, unchecking everything has no effect at all. Many of my groups (Boxcars 711, for example) have everything unchecked but it just keeps playing everything in order and, then, continues on to the next group (Captain Midnight, for example) and plays everything there. This just needs to be fixed by the iTunes people since there isn't any option for selecting single play.
It seems Apple has taken a page from MS of ten years ago - decide what users want and don't give us a choice. None of these workarounds work for me, and here's why;
In the morning I want to play today's news podcast and then I want the playback to stop.
In the evening I want to play the entertainment and editorial and commentary and I want to play them continuously in the order I choose (generally oldest to newest) from the playlist I've set up. If I uncheck everything the evening doesn't play continously. If I leave everything checked, I have to babysit it in the morning.
This =was= the default behavior.
Imagine the thrash I'd have to do twice a day to use one of these workarounds.
Nor do I have any faith that Apple will correct this issue - except maybe by accident. It will take a lot more than three pages of disgruntled customers to get an actual programing change instituted.
I must agree. It seems Apple took an application that worked pretty well and totally screwed it up for no reason that I can discern but incompetence.
If selecting shuffle mode for podcasts does not fall under babysitting, click "shuffle" (crossing double arrow will turn blue) in the morning to play a single podcast in your playlist. Unclick "shuffle" in the evening to play the entire playlist. This works for me, it might works for you.
Go to 'Controls' - 'Shuffle' - 'Turn On Shuffle' worked for me.
This will apply to your entire iTunes Library including audio playback. To only apply it to podcasts play a single podcast and select the crossing double arrows in the play window. It will stick until you close iTunes.
THANKS for posting this solution!! I have asked for Apple support on this and NEVER received a response other than a general comment!
Your solutiont FIXED the problem!!! You would think that Apple would post this somewhere so that people do not get irritated with their product.
Again, THANKS!!!!!🙂
Gleet is correct. Engaging the shuffle button will only play one podcast and stop. Just the way I want it. Apple needs to fix this bug and be careful when making pointless changes to iTunes.
Wow! Is this the future of software?
Yes. Dear Apple, please let us play one song, podcast, whatever, one at a time, if we choose. Thank you!
i just unchecked my podcast episodes, hoping to play one at a time. Now there is no sound, even though i rechecked them! Help!
Yes, Please Apple! Let us decide to play one podcast at a time!

Looks like the latest iTunes resolves this. Now I'll have to learn how to make an album if I do want to play continuously.
Thanks, Apple!
