iOS 7 keep turned off my iCloud settings and asking my password

Hi,

I upgrade to iOS 7 the day before yesterday. Everything's fine until yesterday's morning. When I received a text message, I found it's shown under the tel number, rather than names from my contact list. Then I found all my setting in iCloud were turned off. I turned them on, and everything's fine after that. But today, it turned off all my settings again and stars to keep asking me sign-in my iCloud account. I checked my iCloud account settings, it seems correct for me. I can correctly get all the informations from iCloud. But it just keep asking my passwords...

Any ideas about this?

Thanks very much in advance,

s.c

This is exactly what is going on with my private nightmare. It's bad that I know what needs to be fixed but EVERY support person I've dealt with has made my situation worse. Started with a 2wire gateway that is somehow not up to apples firewall standards now I'm here a month later, stressed out of my brain. My issue is multi-layered but there seems to be absolutely NO easy flow of ANY reasonable communication between me, (novice) customer whose paid hefty data plans this month and the "support" of ANYONE of Apple's representitves! I'm far from stupid, but I've NEVER in my life seen such a collection of arrogant & pompous attitudes for folks who aren't well versed in technical computer layouts! Now, I'm scared to even deal with anyone, there's been SO MUCH confusion that I feel someone is just gonna yank all services when I never did any wrong doing to start with!

Hey guys -- I've had the same problem. Currently running iOS 7.0.4 on an iPhone 4S and it's just happened again!

Symptoms:

Intermittent loss / disabling of iCloud features (Anything from one to all) -- Really annoying as all your contacts may vanish, or something like Find My iPhone will turn itself off and you may not notice until it's too late!

When it happens, you get constant pop-ups to "Sign in to iCloud".

Loss of personalised contact settings (e.g. Individual ring / text tones)

Current Fixes:

So far I've found that I can sometimes just turn back on (or off and on again) the features and, a short while later, the content's synced back... Although this does take a few minutes.

Sometimes this with either a hard reset (Holding the sleep and wake buttons until the phone resets) or just turning it off and on again works... Until the next time at least!

Are you guys also using 4S, or is it across other models too?

Jafroman - yes I am suffering exactly the same as you - and I'm on a 4S.

I've actually done a few things more to try and rectify.

I rang Apple and went through the support call.

Of course they wanted me to see if the problem was there if I did a factory reset - back to new. So I did that - removed everything, started from fresh, and then installed the few apps that seem to cause the issue. I could not repeat the issue.

Of course I wanted all my data back, so I did a Restore from backup. After that the issue is not as frequent and less severe, but it's still there.

Interesting, lickety. Which apps have you found to sometimes cause the issue? I don't know if it is coincidence, but I have found that closing my apps (especially those that use iCloud, like iCal and Mail, etc) does help. It does still occur though.

Thought it had gone as I hadn't had the problem in a while and then it back with a vengeance! Had to go through the motions of deleting iCloud, restarting and then signing back in again... It's okay again for now -- Have to see how long it lasts this time!

Hey Jafroman.

I only use one app that seems to cause it - a game from SuperCell called HayDay. The game must use the limits of the internal memory. I do have issues in the game with GameCentre not loading properly. I do have 260 or some GameCentre friends, and it does load the list (if it works).

When I'm playing HayDay sometimes I feel the game get very laggy, that normally means that iCloud has just screwed up.

I do try now to close all apps when I run HayDay and that does seem to avoid the issue a bit more.

What was interesting is that after the Backup / Restore, the issue is SOOO much less a problem. My guess is that many temporary files were removed, or something in the system that helped promote the issue.

The other interesting thing is that a while ago when I first did the 7.0.4 upgrade I thought the issue was fixed - the first 5-6 hours everything was ok, then it progressively got worse.

I hope the next update from Apple fixes it - the FACT is - NOTHING should overwrite or corrupt the settings in iCloud so this issue is Apple's to own and fix. I just hope they know about it, because it's a tough one to replicate.

This happened to me as well, the first time I tried playing "Clumsy Ninja" on my iPhone 4s. I think this may all be due to Game Center apps. I noticed that I had an old game center account (with my user name as my gmail account which was also a user name of a former appleID) than my iCloud account (as a .me account). Maybe this difference in user names causes iOS7 confusion? I put in me new .me account into game center and home this never happens again. I know that it happened exactly when I earned some points in the game as suddenly it slowed down to a super slo-mo speed - I bet thats when the iPhone logged me off of my iCloud account...

C'mon apple. Get it together.

For me it was because I had a number of apps open in the background when trying to run resource hog apps like games. A few weeks ago I started force quitting every app after I finished using it, thus I would only ever have one app open at a time. Since then I have not had any issues. It is a pain to force quit every app, but at least iCloud and find my iPhone keep working. Seems to be the only solution until Apple releases a fix.

Jafroman!

Can I just emphasise that is not just the iPhone 4/4s having these issues, I have an iPhone 5 and the elves have been playing with my switches under Settings/iCloud... Similar issues with my iPad 2..

Samsung make reasonable phones don't they! :-)

I filed a bug report on this issue on 24th September. Bug number is 15064189. I sent detailed device logs as Apple requested and have received no updates from them since.

The issue is on my iPad Mini (1st gen). Last week it completely died during a hard reboot (usual thing to do before re-entering the iCloud password), and my local Apple Store replaced it. New one is having the same issues with iCloud as before.

Also have the Game Center issue on my son's iPod Touch 5th gen.

iPhone 5s and iPhone 4 running iOS 7 seem unaffected for some reason.

Dec 4, 2013 7:05 PM in response to BriC

Many other people are starting to have the same issues as iPhone 4S. I know a person on iPhone 5S and iPhone 5 with just their contacts disapearing. On iPhone 4S the issue seems to be a bit more extreme. Apple contacted me today about my bug report that I submited and was told that mines is a duplicate of another bug case that they are working on which is ID: 15339153. I hope they get this fix in iOS 7.1.

Cheers everyone.

Looks as though it's a problem that's affecting a lot of people, on different devices, not just the 4S and also it's not linked to any specific apps. However, using up the memory by running apps, especially those which are power-hungry, does possibly increase the chance of this happening.

It's happened to me twice since my last post, so it's definitely not yet resolved. Won't go changing my settings again until it's fixed -- Such a pain having to keep re-inputting custom contact settings, etc!

On the bright side, it does sound like Apple are aware and working on a fix to this issue.

Dec 6, 2013 4:54 AM in response to harenc

After over a month of not having this problem, I got a prompt asking me for my backup password. I should have rebooted then, but I didn't. The next day I got it again, so I rebooted.

After that Find My IPad (2) was off and I had lost all the ringtone settings in my Contacts and lost my photostream photos, so iCloud had turned itself off. The contact and photostream issues are an annoyance, but having Find My turn off is a major problem.

I hadn't played the game that caused this for a long time. This time it was random. It looks like daily restarts is the only work around.
