What's there to fix?

First, you're talking to users here, not Apple. Second, even you admit that the case may not work reliably with the iPhone. It's not Apple's responsibility to change this, it's the manufacturer of the battery case. It's THEIR product, not Apple's.

For your information, I have a Mophie battery case. Works like a charm on my iPhone 5 that I have updated to iOS 7.

Greetings to all,

Here is a inexpensive work-around that works fine for me.

I bought a cheap «8 Pin to Micro USB Converter Charger Adapter For iPhone» off of ebay for 1.05 USD, free shipping and I connected to my old Nokia 97 micro USB cable (you can buy a new one, as they are very cheap). My iPhone 5 charges and transfers data every time, without any warning message either from a USB adapter plugged in the wall, or from my computer. I did also test this converter with 3 more different make Micro USB cables that I borrowed from friends and it worked just fine.

I also have a «High Quality 8 Pin 5M 16FT Fast USB Sync Cable Charger For iPhone 5» off of ebay for 9.99 USD, free shipping, which gives the warning message but still charges my iPhone completely. This cable does not charge the iPhone or transfers data when plugged in to my computer (either PC or MacBook Air).

This is not exactly answering your question, but it addresses issues with third party cables, so I hope it helps.

Thanks for the tip. At least I still may be able to use it then. The problem is that the pack I have fits so snug around my iPhone it is (was) so convenient to carry around in my pocket. I use it for interstate trips and all day outings so it's a shame apple has decided to block this product.

Yeah Apple have outdone themselves, my battery case won't work, I need it for work, I'm mostly away from any charge source during the daylight hours, no wonder their sales are plummeting. Its the last iphone for me, the big brother attitude and company greed has driven me away from their products. The iphone sadly will be no more in a couple of years.... Android is putting paid to that. A good product spoiled by the chase for the mighty dollar.

yeah, i have exactly this same problem and i am very disappointed as this backup battery case was just brilliant! I can charge the phone when in the office and the access to the plug is not a problem, but i used battery case very often when on the road!

I appreciate that it is not Apple problem, but at the end of the day they have restricted their products from using this excellent device so it would be great if the could remove these restrictions...

Hi, I have the same problem too. I bought a cheap battery case charger and after updating to iOS 7, a message saying ''This cable or accesory is not certified and may not work reliable with this iPhone". However, just this morning I found the solution to this problem. Try this and hope this helps.

When the msg box appears, just let it be and DON'T click DIMISS, I noticed that as long as I don't click dismiss my iPhone continues to charge when plugged to my external batttery case. When your phone goes auto unlock and you unlock it again, the notification disappears, still charging, and you can now use your phone normally.

Another tip you can try to do is to lock the screen after the msg comes up, then unlock it again, the notification disappears and you can now use your phone normally while it is charging through your external battery case.

Hope this help because it worked with mine.

I'm not sure how this goes for the other battery case chargers, but might as well give it a try with yours. 🙂

"First of all" your Mophie case cost you in the neighborhood of $100.

My case was $16 on Amazon Prime.

My case was designed MUCH more to my liking, was lighter and had a nicer feel than the Mophie cases I compared it to and it worked flawlessly for a year of hard use (until iOS7.)

Apple has simply installed code that asks the lightning connector if it is from an "approved" manufacturer. (As in have they paid to be in the club)

I am not outraged and I get that Apple recently realized its been missing out on a lot of easy money in the accessory category. I am cool with making a profit, even dickishly.

But I still get to tell them its bull. This issue is equivalent to buying Citgo gas and finding out your Mustang wont start because Ford has a deal with Texaco and Shell.

AN INCONVENIENT WORK AROUND THAT WORKS!!

At least with this manuever your trusty old case wont be totally useless.

With phone on plug into your case.

Turn case on.

Get warning.

Turn case off (for me case turns off on its own.)

Now comes the trick. It is the iOS that is snitching on your unapproved case so you need to turn the case on without the iOS running.

So power off your phone (as in SLIDE TO POWER OFF)

Powering off takes a few seconds, while this is happening the iOS is not taking in any new info.

So when you see that spinning wheel wait a beat and turn your case back on.

Hopefully you have a light that indicates your phone is infact charging.

If you turn the phone back on iOS7 will rat on your case again, but at least you can get a charge on the go.

For now thats the best I have come up with.

Yes, I also have noticed that my phone is being charged from the case when is off. But what puzzles me is that my colleague who bought the case at this same time as I did, doesn't have this problem after updating his iOS! So I don't when I put my iPhone to his case... How strange which makes me thinking that it was my case being faulty...

Anyway, yes, charging it when the power is off does help when on the road...
