I have the same problem...and thanks to all those proposing a solution but Apple have definitely outsmarted me on this one as my powerpack just switches itself off after 10-15 seconds which ever state of on/off my phone is on, or whether I unlock/dismiss/don't dismiss etc...

It is as if it thinks the iphone is not there and powers off.

It was a fairly cheap purchase from Amazon or ebay, but was still 30-40 pounds if I remember correctly.

If anyone has this same issue and has found a solution, please post!!

Tempted to ask Apple if I can revert to previous IO6...

My portable battery (from Anymode) has no On/Off .. it automatically starts when you insert the USB cable. After iOS 7 update Iphone 5 stopped charging. What i now do is that i first put any other phone to start the Portable battery (it has 4 USB's) and then plug Iphone 5 and it immediately starts charging.

My obersvation is the chip doesnt let the portable kick off automatically its session, but if it has already been initiated then the chip does nothing. So its a work around ... but i'm in no mood of spending another $100.

Hi every one I have same problem and I think we should come together, and ask Apple that by doing this change to restrict for none confirmed accessory, million of charging accessory have to go to garbage which mean Apple and those company they pay money to Apple they wane put more money in pocket, they do not care for environment and that is not accepted they should,

regret and fix this problem

I have this issue too....how annoying.

Do Apple actually respond to the users discussions in these forums? Have they confirmed that this is an intentional restriction?

If this is intentional, then in addition to the environmental impact of rendering all those chargers redundant, it is an abuse of trust for them to assume that their customers will continue to reinvest in Apple products if this is typical of their reaction to non-approved products.

I realize this is a User Forum but can Apple not publish a short list of approved External Batteries that will work with iOS7 somewhere? This is turning into a crapshoot of buying and trying external batteries.

I bought a Romoss Sailing 3 7800 and have yet to figure out the sequence of steps I need to take in order for it to charge 100% of the time. So far, disabling Passcode is a must. It seems to work if I let the phone fall asleep on it's own. If I manually put the phone to sleep by tapping the power button, the charging stops working shortly afterwards. I bought this external battery for long 300km bike rides. So I don't know if the only suggested device, a Mophie case, will suffice. I don't want to have to babysit the external battery in my back jersey pocket. My Belkin external battery I used in conjunction with my iPhone 3S just worked plain and simple!

Also, since updating to iOS7 my iPhone 5 battery has been real suspect. Asking to connect to USB in semi-cold conditions or jumping from 18% down to 1%. I guess this is Apples way of putting your phone on a detonation timer to purchasing a new one. Probably stop working when the iPhone 6 is out.
