iOS 7 Mail Crashing Instantly

Good afternoon,

I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 7 two days ago and Mail keeps crashing instantly when I launch the app. I tried to reset the phone a few times and tried to delete all the accounts as well. Mail even crashes on the "Welcome to Mail" page when there are no accounts. I am able to check my email sometimes but 95% of the time the app crashes instantly. I maded a back up prior to updating to iOS 7, can I use this back up to restore even though I was running iOS 6? Please advise thank you in advance.

Mail crashes everytime I tap on the Sender field of an email when the email is either Signed or Signed and Encrypted (SMIME).

I'm about to do a full restore.. because I noticed that my Trust Store version doesn't match exactly that as indicated on the Apple web page for iOS 7 List of available trusted root certificates. Mine indicates: 2013071600

Clicking on Learn more about trusted certificates (Settings->General->About->(bottom of Page-)>Trust Store

..indicates the iOS 7 Trust Store version should indicate 2013080500.

Upgraded iTunes to 11.1 (126) [OS X 10.8.5].. plugged in the iPad.. iTunes wanted to update the iPad.. proceeded with the update.. (now 7.0 / 11A465) it has updated my Trust Store version to the correct version (2013080500).

Mail still crashes, but only when clicking on the From: field of an email that was received as either Signed, or Signed and Encrypted (SMIME).

I'm going to try a full reset.. (after performing a full sync with the new iTunes 11.1)..

I have the 2013080500 version, I tried to restore my iPhone from a backup made before installing iOS 7 but iTunes stated that I don't enough space left on my iPhone 4 (4.5 Gb). Hopefully someone can help us...

Fixed.. no more Mail App crash for me when tapping on the From: field in an SMIME received email..

Performing a full reset, in addition to the update with iTunes 11.1, has me able to Tap on the From: field and now reveals the Sender information of SMIME received email within iOS 7... using iPad Mini..

I suspect your crashing problem might just be a low storage issue.. (I some how had a Trust Store version mismatch)

Well, I had 4.5 Gb left almost on my iPhone 4 (32 Gb) so I doubt that was the issue.

After spending the afternoon trying different things, I gave up and reset to factory settings my iPhone 4. The problem is now fixed. However, I forgot to sync my music with the backup so I lost close to 2000 songs. Also for some strange reason I lost all entries on my calendar.... The backup didn't save them somehow.

I can't check email at all on IOS 7.0.3. Mail closes instantly. Tried all resets and tricks in the book. No luck.

The same is happening here, it crashes instantly. I deleted all mail accounts and it also crash instantly. Mail even crashes on the "Welcome to Mail" page when there are no accounts. I will research a bit more and if I have no other option wil perform a reset to factory settings. I'll let you know.

Restore to factory settings and the problem was solved. Not the most comfortable solution, but it works.

I simply deleted both the mail accounts on the phone and re-added them. That solved the problem without a factory reset.
