iPhone 5 with iOS 7 randomly shuts off

Are any of you aware of iOS 7 randomly shutting down iPhones? Ever since I upgraded 2 day ago it has shut down at least 3 times. The battery was at about 18%, 20%, and 36% when it shut down. I don't believe it’s a bug with the battery percentage because it started back up as soon as hit the power button. Also, it is not due to overheating or anything else wrong with the environment. Nothing in the environment has changed except that I updated to iOS 7. Let me know if this occurs to anyone else and if there are any solutions pending?

you could try opening the phone, make sure all the easily accessable screws are tightened, also disconnect the battery (you dont have to take it out, just disconnect the little battery connector) then plug the phone in and turn it on (apple logo should just keep flashing) then after about a minute of that, unplug the phone from the charger again, reconnect the battery and close up the phone. seemed to help me so far.... but ill get back to you guys if its a good fix. only do this if your comfortable opening your phone and/or you wanna experiment with this stuff like me.

DONT DO IF YOUR WARRANTY IS STILL GOOD, take it to an apple store

I have the same problem my iphone5 is 14 months old. It is up to date etc Still keeps randomly freezing with a green screen with lines from the top to the bottom of the screen and then shuts down and shows the blank screen with the apple logo. It restarts again but its a pain.
It also bombs me out of apps as if the app doesnt work but then comes back later on.
After doing restore and resetting settings I lost at least 3/4 of my precious photos and videos and most of my apps The restore also added my brother's iphone stuff to my phone so I had all of his contacts, some photos, his apps now on my phone.
I also had to download all my itunes again into icloud or whatever that is meant to do. I hope I dont get charged usage for having to download everything again

Im starting to hate iphones, wont buy another. Ive had nothing but trouble and going into apple or phone providers are like hoping to win the lottery. Their answer is always either
"you have to restore and reset" I do this but end up losing stuff and my phone still randomly shuts down; or:
"you have to send it away you will lose all your data and you will need a new battery" I dont think so, thats not the fix here

Thanks cyber10matt for you tips but I did take my iphone5 into my phone service provider and they opened it up and had a look inside and nothing was loose or wrong instead they suggested I buy a new battery which only cost $129.00?!? Only! My phone is 14 months old
I brought the battery and still I have the same dramas. DONT BLAME YOUR BATTERY PPL!

I get a random green screen that has lines running down the top to the bottom, reminds me of 'The Matrix' movie. It just happens like once a day maybe? Whether Im using it or not. so over it 😟

I log on here to see if there are any tips and try them but nothing seems to fix it
I can live with the green screen and shut downs I guess but my other drama is because I had to do a restore and reset settings I lost most of my photos and a few videos as well as most of my apps

Im hoping apple will hurry up and send an upgrade to fix these issues?

just outa curiosity, i wanna see if everyone with these problems has any similartiies.....

-type of charger you guys are using (authentic apple chargers, short or long cords)

-screen protectors

-any notable hardware problems (dents, rattling, loose buttons?)

-model of iphone (carrier, os version, memory size, phone color, etc...)

-anything else that might be something common amongst all us users

Authentic Apple charger

Authentic Cable Approx 2 feet.

With OtterBox Defender case for iphone 5s (even though my phone is a 5). Has screen protector.

Absoulutel preistine conditions. Not a scratch or blemish on it. Was 1 year old.

ATT, 7.01, 64 Gb, Black).

My phone had ONLY the premature battery shut down.(see my earlier posts in this thread).

Two trips to the store, following all recommendation from the store personnel, and same issue.

The phone had applecare on it, I fianlly went a third time and pretty much demamnded a replacement. I was met with no resistance, they replaced my phone about 2 months ago and i have had absolutely no issues, Battery lasts 3-4 days, will shut down only after being at 1% for several hours.

Based on my experience, and my experience alone, there is no doubt in my mind that mt issue was either battery or hardware related. I am very satisfied with my phone now.

I will say that I think apple needs to step up to the plate and own this issue and make it right free of charge for the people that have the issue. I went from a 4 to a Galaxy S3 for screen size and camera. After a year I found the S3 unreliable, and decided to sacrifice screen size and camera for reliability and went back to an apple. 5.

If apple can't keep their customer base happy with what is CLEARLY their issue, they risk losing a lot of customer. Further, If I didn't have applecare, and was faced with this issue, I would have researched a class action by now.

my phone's rattling was really loud (more than normal) when the factory warranty was still good, the genius said it was normal (but i didnt) and like a month and a half later i started with these problems...

i talked to a manager at the store where this happened and he asked me right away if i had apple care.......

seriously i shouldnt have to buy apple care for a phone that costs hundreds of dollars!!!!!!!! they should just work!!!

having a phone that costs hundreds crap out 3 months after the warranty period is up just isnt supposed to happen..

im not gonna switch to another company, because i like apple and have put too much money into things like the app store and itunes, but this is just stupid, everyone shouldnt have to buy $100 apple care.

Jan 18, 2014 8:54 AM in response to cyber10matt

and just to add to my question last night:

-standard apple charger with standard short cord, also own an extra long cord (both apple made)

-had a screen protector (which i removed last night for the first time in about 6 months and it left a residue, maybe this caused some issues since the screens work with the transfer of electrons, might have caused a type of shorting?????)

-few scratches on the aluminim, but i usually had a silicon case for that stuff, no exterior deformations that should be of concern; REALLY LOUD FREAKING RATTELING

-verizon iphone 5, 32 gig black (refurb, original one's ear piece for calls stopped working about a year ago, replaced in warranty with this piece of crap i have now)

***i did a battery test on it with a program on my mac and its health is good enough that premature shutdowns shouldn't be happening....

im guessing this whole problem we are all happening is one of those that apple can easily fix with a software update, even though its a hardware problem
