iPhone 5 with iOS 7 randomly shuts off

Are any of you aware of iOS 7 randomly shutting down iPhones? Ever since I upgraded 2 day ago it has shut down at least 3 times. The battery was at about 18%, 20%, and 36% when it shut down. I don't believe it’s a bug with the battery percentage because it started back up as soon as hit the power button. Also, it is not due to overheating or anything else wrong with the environment. Nothing in the environment has changed except that I updated to iOS 7. Let me know if this occurs to anyone else and if there are any solutions pending?

<<Btw how do you get the phones so cheap!>>

A previous post by jcgodfreysuggested he was offered a replacement for $250. I don't know if that's typical or not.

Don't be too negative (although my post was not positive). The service person I'm working with seemed to be really, really good. I think Apple is interested in finding a solution to this problem. No one is saying it's not a problem.

Amazingly, I have had a lot of Mac computers and never had any problems (we have 6 Mac's and a few Apple TV's now -- again, big family). We have more problems with our 1 PC than all the Mac's. So my experience with this iphone 5 is not typical. Having one dead and 2 showing signs of trouble seems unreal considering how reliable Apple's products have been.

I switched my cell number to my daughters phone to get me by (16 year old without a phone - she is pretty mad!). I am amazed how well her phone holds a charge during this one day of use. This is the ONE iphone 5 we have (of 4) that has not had any problems. I need some time to test it but it really does seem like there was/is something wrong with the phone I had that can not be restored.

I don't think Apple is going down the drain -- remember there are 21 pages here with dozens of posters but Apple sells millions of iphones and most are working well. I feel a little unlucky but I also think Apple is determined to get this fixed and lesson the pain on their customers in the process. Better to be working with Apple here than a LOT of other companies.

Hi Fred,

Perhaps it's me, but I have not seen ANYTHING *OFFICIAL* from Apple that they recognize this issue, AND that they are actively looking for a (and promising a no cost) solution to this problem. I could have missed it, but I would think that if they had announced this, it would either be IN this forum or certainly there would be references to it here.

While I can appreciate the service person you dealt with saying that apple knows this is an issue, I would really like to hear it from a senior management member.

I would feel A LOT more at ease and would be FAR more patient if either on this forum, or in a widely publicized notice, an authorized Apple representative fessed up to this issue and reassured ALL OF US that they still value us as customers, are working on a NO COST fix, and will get it out to us as soon as humanly possible.

THROUGH NO FAULT OF OUR OWN, DID THESE ISSUES ARISE !!!!!

I was fortunate in that I had applecare and had my phone replaced a few weeks after this thing reared its ugly head. Two weeks later a family member's phone did the same thing.

Apple ???? Anything you want to add here???? Now's your chance.

There have been several reports of Apple acknowledging the issue and speculation that iOS 7.1 may address it.

I'm going to see what 7.1 will bring. If that doesn't fix my problem I will be ordering a $30 replacement battery kit from ifixit and replacing the battery myself.

They played dumb when I had to replace the batterry @ Apple store to fix this. it did indeed fix it.

•Problem: iOS 7.0.4 KILLED battery calibration on the iPhone 5. (possibly other models).

•Solution: Replace battery.

Hope they issue refunds to all who had to replace battery. Going out assuming you had 36% battery and have it DIE on you could be a matter of life & death!!

This is my life. I have an iPhone 5 and the phone would just turn off over and over again with odd colours and the white screen of death. I was told that I need to buy a new phone because it is a hardware issue. Seems a little odd that there are so many people dealing with the same issue. If I buy a new phone, what is the chance that this will just happen again!?
