Ipad mini facebook ios 7 problem

Hello!

After upgrading to Ios 7 i downloaded the facebook app to my ipad mini. Once i logged into it, it asked me to log in the facebook from settings in my ipad. I found facebook tab in settings and entered everything but now it tells that the password was wrong. When i'm trying to type the password, it tells me: "error signing in. Could not communicate with the server", and that's it! I tried to delete my account from that settings tab but it doesn't do anything. Even deleting app or rebooting the device still leaves that facebook tab the same: i cannot enter the password and cannot delete an account. Meanwhile each time i start facebook app - it asks me to log in from settings, but i cannot!

What can solve this issue? Because i cannot do anything with that facebook tab - neither enter the password, nor even delete account data from it.

Sorry for long question.

P.S. Anyone know if it is possible to write somewhere about bugs or lags i found in ios7?

Lastly, I wish people would stop suggesting to people to hard reset the device as that can potentially damage your file system, and force you to restore from backup!

It's like killing the power on a Mac or Win PC without shutting it down. As long as u can hold lock and slide the red switch over.. THATS A FULL, 100% shutdown of the device.

Lock+Home is a HARD reset intended ONLY if you cant shut down the device normally (due to a crash, lock up, etc)

It will take longer for the ios device to restart after a hard reset as it has to scan the file system for errors. However, ios normally does NOT run this file system scan with any regularity. So a hard reset IS a good way to make it force scan/repair the file system, but frequent hard resets can cause corruption.

Remember , standby mode is activated by just locking the screen. Other than that, ios devices don't have sleep or hibernate modes. When you lock an ios devices screen, all apps switch to background, screen turns off... This is to reduce battery use

For some of you, you could have corrupt devices.

In most cases a reset, restore will fix things.

But sometimes you have to wipe and start clean, if your system data is corrupt as you backed up those settings.

For those worried about save games and other data, get a 3rd party ios backup program. After you wipe and install a fresh copy of ios, and your apps, use the 3rd party backup/restore to restore APP settings, data, saves... NOT system data

Another reason for 3rd party backup is iTunes and icloud do not keep a file history like OS X time machine or windows file history / system restore combo.

I reccomend icloud backup with periodic iTunes back up. This way if you corrupt something , it mat still be good on that old iTunes backup.

Lastly, ALWAYS encrypt itunes backups or your device logins and passwords don't get saved otherwise :)

Yes, have read through the thread, methodically trying all suggestions ( save hard reset / starting again). Nothing works. As it only affects ios7 offering to integrate with Facebook (working within Facebook app itself is fine) I would imagine it will be addressed sometime down the track , initiated by Apple , as an ios7 update. The hard reset fixes are an absurd way to fix what is really a smallish bug. I will wait. It's just such an 'unlike apple' untidy thing to leave unaddressed for so long.

My problem: I can log into Facebook on the browser, and then access Facebook through the app. I cannot log in to Facebook in Settings, because it's giving me the error "Could not communicate with server". I also can't delete my account.

Here's what I've done:

Gone to Settings > Privacy > Facebook, unchecked everything requesting access to Facebook.

Gone through all my other Settings, unchecked everything requesting access to Facebook.

Changed my primary Facebook email address back to the one I originally used to sign up for Facebook. (Took a lot of work to get the email account back but I did it.)

Deleted Facebook app on my iPhone.

Deleted Facebook app on my iPad mini.

Turned off and turned on iPad mini.

Reinstalled Facebook app on iPad mini. Did NOT go to Facebook in Settings or open the App.

Turned off and on iPad mini.

Logged out of Facebook on my computer.

Turned off iCloud backup on my computer.

Open Facebook App.

Prompted to "Enter password for "" in Settings".

Click Cancel, keeps popping up.

Enter Password in Settings, "Could not communicate with server."

Tried to Delete account, didn't work.

Still not working.

So now, I plugged my iPad into my computer.

Went to "Apps" tab in iTunes.

Cicked on "Remove" button next to Facebook app. Clicked "Sync."

Clicked "Install" button next to Facebook app. Clicked "Sync."

Opened Facebook on iPad. Logged in.

Tried to connect Facebook to The Sims Freeplay (which is the reason I'm doing all this in the first place). Asks me for password. Type in password. Doesn't work. Delete account. Doesn't work.

UGH I JUST WANT TO CONNECT THE SIMS WITH FACEBOOK WHY IS THIS SO HARD.

As a side question, if I do the restore/backup from iCloud thing, will it have all my game data? I spent money on the Sims and I don't want to lose all my progress if I restore.

You are all assuming that a Facebook account still exists. I actually had my Facebook account permanently deleted by Facebook. There is no longer an account to reactivate or log in to. So it still has my old information in my iPad and I can't delete it. I am not willing to reset as a new device. There are way too many apps and photos to have to download and organize again. Surely there is a real fix for this.

I too encountered this issue when setting up my wife's new iPad Mini from her iCloud-backed up iPad 2. I did NOT want to restore and install from new and fortunately was able to avoid doing so. The issue we found was related to transferring your Facebook settings from the old iPad to the new so we took that out of the equation entirely with the following steps. This assumes you still have your old iPad.

On the old iPad

1. Go Settings > Facebook

2. Click on your username and then delete account

- This should effectively put you in the position of having Facebook ready to receive login info (open fields for username and password)

3. Go Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Back up now

- Wait until backup is complete

On the new iPad

4. Go Settings > General > erase all content and settings (basically, restore to factory)

5. Follow instructions to setup new iPad from iCloud backup

6. Go Settings > Facebook. You should now see open fields (as you saw in step 2 above).

7. On Facebook via browser (on your old iPad, notebook or desktop), go to Settings > Security and request an App Password for your new iPad. Insert this into the iPad Facebook settings.

Cheers!

I have done everything listed on this forum, including a complete reset. It's clear that APPLE like the JUNK monster they have created in iOS7. Its really irritating that this has been an ongoing problem for more than six months with NO SOLUTION. It's even sadder that the link at the top that was suppose to continue this topic in another discussion that is unauthorized for me to access. It's sad that this is the rule and not the exception.

I Have been trying to find a fix for this glitch online for sometime and also tried to contact apple support to help resolve this issue, for which they want to charge me £25 to ask the question on how to fix this,

now considering this is a software error i find this frustrating for many reasons.

firstly having 2 ipads and an iPhone which cost a considerable amount of money already.

secondly the amount of money invested within apps which i cant access is even more substantial

thirdly because the problem is blatantly being ignored on the forums by apple so people stump up the cash to get the fix.

fourthly because there has not been so much as an explanation never mind a solution

i Would recommend everyone who has this issue demands every penny and cent they have invested within apps that they cannot access because a product and or service which has been purchased and technically owned is unavailable because apple are ignoring the problem and unwilling to provide an update or a solution to the problem.

this is a known long time fault by way of system software, there is only one culprit why should we pay more to find out a solution

i Am at my wits end with this and will within a week be looking to do this if this is not resolved

This was the solution I found to the problem after attempting every soft fix I found on the forums. Read through the ENTIRE post before trying this. Also, if you are not completely familiar and comfortable doing each of these steps, don't try this at home.

1. Hook the iPad up to the computer and do a full back-up to iTunes. Make sure that every app, jpg, mov, mp3/4 (basically, every single thing you want to put back on the device) is in iTunes before you move on To the rest of the fix.

2. Do a full restore. Set the iPad up as a new iPad.

3. Use your apple id in the set up, but DO NOT restore from Apple ID.

4. Set up FB in your device (Settings) BEFORE restoring any apps.

5. If you disconnected your iPad from the computer, plug it back in.

6. DO NOT do a restore. This will restore the problem.

7. Delete the FB app from iTunes before your start. You will reinstall it later.

8. Separately, move the photos, music, vids, and apps back to the device. BE SURE to do it separately.

9. Disconnect from the computer.

10. Re-download FB.

11. Save as a back-up, so it replaces the faulty stored back-up.

Now you should be able to set up Game Center and FB to share without the glitch.

This is not an easy fix, and if you are not familiar enough with your devices, don't try this. It was, however, the only solution I found that worked after 6 hours of constant attempts at solutions.

Good luck!
