iPad 2, iOS 7, Apps crash
Even apps I installed after iOS7 keep crashing.
iOS7 was the worst decision I have made in recent history.
My iPad2 go-to internet device now performs worse than a 15 year old PC running Windows Vista.
Please restore my faith Apple! Please!!!
I'm having the same issue. It actually started before the upgrade. I wiped out my system and reinstalled everything, did the upgrade and eventually wound up replacing the device altogether. It is still happening! The app that crashes the most is Safari. I notice that if I wipe out my system and do a full reinstall, I get some stability for a few addy, but it eventually starts up again.
Gmail was crashing on my iPad 2. I deleted and then reinstalled the Gmail app. Things are working now. Note that this problem never occurred on my iPhone 5.
Delete and re-install worked for me, so far anyways.
Lots of crashing happening. Hope apple figures it out.
I thought I was one of the very few, but it seems that a number of people have the very same problem. Apps keep crashing and crashing. I am having presently (9th Nov 2013) problem to update Facebook app. Tried to delete it and re-install it but problem persists :-(
I am not going to start here about iOS7 GUI, but my little boy would do it better. I especially don't like GUI of Calendar and Contacts, but can barely cope with iWork. Luckily for us users, there are some excellent third party apps out there. I've now changed iWork, Calendar and Contacts with third party apps and I am very happy. Shame thta Apple went backwards with GUI. I would be happy if they would return iOS6 GUI :-)
I have the same problem with my ipad 2 since I upgraded it to iOs7.0.3. I cannot just delete and reinstall the app that has been crashing since all data will be gone and I just cant afford to lose it. Please Apple solve this issue!!!
Next time it happens, go to SETTINGS/GENERAL/ABOUT and check to see it there is a "low memory" incident report.
If there is:
See the discussion thread "iPad Air Low Memory Crashes".
Seems to be common....this could turn into a HUGH issue.
I did everything that was suggested getting tired of freezing then crashing even when I try to put my pass word in. Perhaps this is a ploy to get us to buy a new iPad
Totally agree maggiefromguntown.
I've done everything too, and can't even download anything new. Safari is fast becoming useless. Can't get into my gmail. Facebook not happy. Nor am I. iPad also doing silly things, like skipping letters when typing, crashing to home screen which is blurry or upside down and is slow to respond.
Are Apple doing anything about this??
Oh yes. I nearly forgot, I have a few Gb free and not getting any memory error messages, but....I can play Solitaire! For now...
In case you reinstall the apps and it still doesn't work, try to restart your ipad by completely shutting down your iPad and reopenning your iPad. In my case, the application are back working. I hope this helps.
I have trouble with Safari & apple installed apps crashing too. I have reset, restored, & deleted all my apps I can. I have tried all the above suggestions & I am still having the problems. Is this from IOS 7 update? It's frustrating!!!!!!
I have tried that! Nothing works! I have restored using a backup but of course I backed it up with the iOs7. I wonder if I restore it to factory setting and don't reinstall anything if it would work? Its my daughter's ipad and she is 9. I have uploaded pictures to drop box and saved her contacts on her ipod. I guess we could care less if we lost anything else. Our music is backup on our computer. I have nothing else to lose....its worthless!
I guess the Automatically Updates for apps causes the problem. it happens on my friend's iPhone 5c, but never happens to my device because I've turned it off. this is a new function on ios 7 and it is on for default. the iOS maybe automatically tried to update apps for you in the background, but not completed causes network issues, as we know iOS apps cannot be open while it is updating. so that maybe the problem. I suggest you guys turn it off (go to Settings - iTunes & App Store, check the AUTOMATIC DOWNLOADS, turn off them), then delete apps which would crash after launch and reinstall.
This keeps happening to my 4s, and it happens with apps that I can't delete (safari, camera, etc.). It's super frustrating! I've never had so many problems with an iphone. What in the world is going on, and how can I fix it?!
I am having the same issue too. I first noticed update updating to 7.0.3 that after the battery ran out and recharging that I had to do a hard reset to wake it up (never needed to do that on ios 6) and as of a couple of days ago it just went into the Apple logo loop where it would show the logo and then it would turn off and come back on.
I did a reset and restore via iTunes and straight away I had the same problem. It is my son's iPad so I initially thought that the culprit was the latest Skylanders Battleground app that was causing the issue. The first restore I did was from an old back up so I tried it again with the option of as if it is a new iPad. This time it restored and looked to be fine but after installing Skylanders Battleground it went back into the Apple Logo loop.
I tried to restore it again without the Skylanders Battleground app and installed a Peppa Pig game so that he could test it out and for about 15 mins I thought that it was the Skylanders and told my son that we can't install it as it was crashing the iPad but then it crashed again, so I then for the first time thought it was iOS 7.0.4 that was the issue. I don't know where I stand now if Apple accept that they have introduced a problem of their making and how I get resolution. Do I just put the iPad in the drawer and wait for a fix (hopefully).
Is there any way to roll back to iOS 6?
