Disappearing contacts on iPhone 5 w/ iOS7

FOLDER "EXTRAS" IN LATEST iOS, TAP..CONTACT ICON IN THERE..DRAG OUT OF FOLDER AND 4EVER ON HOME SCREEN

Alpha by 7 was right! I went to

Settings

mail contacts calendars

iCloud

turned contacts off

kept them on my iPhone

turned it back on

merged the two and

BOOM!

they are back!

Just had the same thing happen to me. All of a sudden I started just randomly loosing contacts... About 200 out of 500. Went into iCloud settings and somehow my calendars and contacts sync had been turned off. Flipped them back on and they came back. No idea how the setting got changed.

I tried all the steps listed here but nothing works. HOW DO I GET MY CONTACTS TO SYNC!!! i can see the contacts on icloud.com but NOT on my iphone!!

This is happening to me as well.

I'd guess about half of my contacts have disappeared, and I haven't been able to retrieve them with the on-again, off-again iCloud trick, etc.

Strange thing is that names of contacts still pop up when people call, but when I search for the same name on the phone nothing comes up.

Apple: Any new updates yet on how this can be fixed? I have lost a lot of business contacts that I no longer have written down in other places, and they are also no longer showing up in iCloud. Not a good thing.

So, this just happened to me too. I noticed the option about iCloud. I share my iCloud with my husband and I have an iPad on the account too. My iCloud account was FULL! So, I deleted my iPad information from iCloud and now my contacts are back. I guess I need to upgrade from 5GB free space.

I Just woke up to no contact. I don't use iCloud and have restarted the phone several times and nothing.

Within Contacts, tap Groups at top left. Make sure all contact groups are checked to show, then tap "Done" at top right.

I had the problem where 3/4 of my contacts vanished.

The solution that worked for me was to disconnect one of my iPads from iCloud, which was full.

I restarted my phone and all my contacts were back.

Same here I have tried everything and no luck retrieviing my contacts back

Oh boy... not for me. None of the above has worked for me. I have a iPhone 5c with iOS 8.3 and ...One day, I needed a phone number from my "Contacts" list, and found a very short list comprised of contacts that I haven't used in over 5 years. Recent contacts—the ones that I call frequently—were either gone or the information under that name was outdated.

And like a few others on this list, when the lost contact calls, or I dial them, their name appears. It's right there under Recents, too, but when I tap the circled "i", the option of adding that person as a contact is not available. I even tried editing the contact by adding a picture but that didn't work either.

iCloud has the same list as my phone. I do not know how this could have happened. My suspicion is that high-level HP Support Execs have invaded the ranks of Apple.

Experiencing the same issue with disappearing constants.
