Since updating to iOS7, contacts on my iPhone 5 seem to be disappearing then reappearing a few minutes later. This has happened a few times already, but hasn't happened on my iPad yet. Anyone else having this problem? I first noticed it in iMessage because the names were replaced by phone numbers. Looked in my contacts and half of my contacts weren't there. After a few minutes they came back all of the sudden. Anyone else seeing this?

Alpha_By_7's answer worked great! Go into iCloud mail turn off contacts and it will ask to keep contacts on phone. Tap yes. Then turn them back on. It will then ask to merge (tap yes). you should be good!
Alpha_By_7, This worked perfectly for me! Many of my contacts did not show up on my contact list or when I searched for them, but if I entered the number manually and tried to add it as a contact, it only offered me the "share contact" option, as if the contact was in fact there. Siri could call the contact though, even though I couldn't see it in the list or find it with a search. All my contacts are back now. The only thing not mentioned was that after I turned contacts back on, I had to accept the option to merge with iCloud. Thank you for your help!
This worked!! The only next step I did was turn it off and then back on and they were all there! Thank you.
This is extremely frustrating and now I have to keep ALL of my texts because the only way I can figure out who the contract is is by reading the content of every text! This is a fix that Apple needs to address. There are plenty of people with the same issue.
I also have mail issues too. I open my mail app and regardless of the setting combinations, my email RE-loads every time. I used to have 'No Limit' on sync but since this new issue began, I've set it to one month. Note when I open my mail (and I have several accounts), it loads, from the beginning, every email starting with the oldest. I can close it and reopen 5 minutes later and they all reload again. I'm seriously considering an Android device now.
