Just tap on the note pad and the keyboard will pop up. There is no + button in iOS 7.

Thanks. Your answer helped me figure it out. FYI, I did not see a note pad in Reminders but there is one in Notes. However, one tap in a blank space on a "new" Reminder list and the keyboard popped up. On an existing list, I had to scroll to bottom and then tap.

Thanks for a quick response.

That's a reasonable solution for short lists, and something that was available in iOS 6. But if you have more than 10 items, you need to scroll to the end of the list. And, if you have tens of items in a list as I do (longest list is 173 items) it is not reasonable to quickly add a reminder thought in this way. Evernote has an app called FastEver that gets you to recording a thought as quickly as possible. I hope Apple does something to recapture the ability to quickly add a thought to a longer list.

Glad I found this. As an iOS user since version two I also couldn't figure this out for the life of me. I agree with a comment I read earlier, that being "there are no contextual clues in the interface." This appears to be a major flaw even for veteran users. I actually had to do some searching to figure out how to type in a reminder!

The removal of the + button to add an item is simply a design flaw. Apple needs to correct it. Seriously, I have to scroll down through my 36 reminders and click on the open space to add an item? The IOS 7 team needs to scroll down through its reminders list of hundreds of design flaw corrections and add one to bring back the + button.

Ebutter had this solution. I also figured it out. I used reminders every day. Couldn't figure out how to add new reminders. Just did. Go to the list were you want to ad a reminder. Scroll to the bottom of the list. Tap on the space below the last entry, you will be Abe to create a new entry. Why didn't the have a + sign?? Very strange. Hope this helps.

I am very disappointed in the way reminders that are synced from my work Outlook account, work on my phone with ios7. It is not manageable to add items to a long existing reminder/task. I've used the tasks in Outlook more like notepad where I list anything that is in my mind. I then organize them loosely and put the top items I need to work on up at the top. When something new needs to be written, I would just open the reminder/task and type it in, usually at the top. Now, I tap on the icon in the reminders list to open it - this is a bit different I think than if you just created a reminder fresh in ios7. After selecting a spot in the list - usually the top - the keyboard comes up, the list scrolls down to about the middle thus hiding the cursor on a longer list and of course any text I am trying to type. Am I missing something simple here or is this something missed for business users with Outlook? Now I to wait to get on the computer and modify tasks in Outlook which skips the point of a mobile solution. I need something else that works.

If you're like me, in the old version, you would click on the date when you wanted to be reminded which was on a small calendar. Now that they don't have the calendar, I had just opened a new list and added the reminders at the bottom. As others have pointed out, though, that becomes a real PITA when you have many reminders and have to scroll all the way to the bottom to add a new one. This also made it difficult to search for one. My solution was to create a new list for each month. That way, while it's January, January is open and the list is shorter when I have to add a new reminder. Works great. Kind of a pain to add each month initially but once it's done, it's done. Oh, and if you already have that long list, just click on the little 'i' to the right of the reminder in your list and go to near the bottom of the new window and you can move the reminder to the January or February or whatever list where you want to move it. Again, a pain but once it's done you never need to do it again. Thanks to anyone who read this whole post! Haha. Hope it helped!

When I started purchasing Apple devices in addition to Microsoft compatible products, I was really impressed with their thoughtful, high quality design. More and more, though, I see this slipping on the software side. I'm very pleased with my Apple TV -- very pleased, indeed -- but when software designers screw up a function this basic, it create a noticeable wart. And by the way, Apple, the wart gets bigger and bigger the longer it takes you to send out a patch. I note that this particular thread was begun Sept 21 of last year....

Here's one way to work around the problem that works with iOS7, and that's using Siri. Tell Siri to add a reminder and tell it the day and time to set it to. that's it. You can even tell it what list to add it to. For example I have a list called Tasks (that syncs with my Exchange account). If I want to add a task I activate Siri and state: "Set Tasks reminder to [take out the garbage] at twelve noon today" That creates the 'take out the garbage' reminder in the iOS7 Reminders with the alarm set, (and BTW adds it as a task to my Outlook on my desktop). Let me know if that works for you or if you have varients--I'll add them to my book. Michael Linenberger, author of book Total Workday Control Using Microsoft Outlook. Thx.

Thanks, I would have never figured out how to add an item, otherwise. Too bad they were not consistent with the look and feel as other apple apps. However, the reminders app really does work in all aspects including syncing after you get the iCloud setting turned on on all devices. If a device is not set, this app will fail on that device making it seem it does not work.
