Q: "You Have 3 Apps to Accept" ?

When I click "Puchases", the resulting display has a section headed "You Have 3 Apps to Accept"  (see the attached screenshot) Screenshot 2013-09-21 14.58.44.jpg

I already have those apps installed, not via the App Store but from several releases of the OS over the years.

When I click "Accept", the standard dialog appears asking me to enter my AppleID & password.

I do, and the "Accept" button dims, and a busy cursor appears.  After a *long* wait, the "busy" cursor disapears and the "Accept" button turns dark grey again.

Nothing else.

Clicking it again brings up the signin dialog again, and the whole process repeats.  Over & over again.

Shut the computer down and reboot, open the App store, and nothing has changed -- the same "You have 3 Apps to Accept" message.

Help!

It is likely that you have messed up what usually is a straight forward process of accepting the iLife apps that come bundled with a new Mac if you migrated old versions of the apps from a previous Mac.

The bundled versions would be the most recent versions and they are free, but at this point I'm not sure what you need to do to undo the mess. Do you see two separate copies of each of the apps in the Apps folder?

When I bought this iMac it came equiped with 10.6. (Snow Leopard). I also had a MBP with 10.6 installed for which I had purchused and installed the boxed iLife DVDs as when I bought the MBP was prior to iLife being included.

When I started the new iMac the Setup Assistant asked if I wanted to transfer my apps/data/settings from another machine so I did from the MBP via FireWire. Maybe the Setup assistant overwote the iLife apps preinstalled?

BTW, this message from the App Store about accepting them is brand new -- I don't recall ever seeing it prior to now but I propbably haven't cliccked "Purchases" since maybe upgrading to 10.8.6.

    OK, here's the real kickers:

    (1) The Software Update function of the App Store continues to correctly offer me and perform updates to these components.

    (2) On my MBP, which was recently updated to 10.8.5 too, the App Store doesn't display any dialog about "accepting" the iLife applications -- it just lists them as "Installed" (which they are).

So, how do I fix whever is wrong with the App Store or the iLife installation?

iLife apps that came from the retail DVD or came preinstalled with Snow Leopard or earlier versions of OS X cannot be updated by the Mac App Store, those continue to be updated through the Software Update facility, even though the SU facility does use the Mac App Store through the backdoor. If the original owner bought the MAS versions they should have delted all MAS apps that they bought prior to selling the Mac to you. If you migrated older versions of these apps during an initial setup they have become mixed together and the MAS is now confused.

I *am* the original owner of both machines.

    Obviously the MAS is confused.

BTW, when I scroll-down the MAS window to the "Purchases", iMovie is listed as "Installed" in grey, but iPhoto & GarageBand are listed with the darker "Install". Clicking it says that it is already installed.  (So why is iMovie, which is listed as an app which has to be accepted, listed as "installed" while the others aren't?)

We know what the problem is -- the MAS is screwed-up/confused on this computer (repeat: the MAS on my MBP isn't confused!)

So how do I fix it?

Give me a moment to reread this thread please.

I suggest restarting the Mac and then have Spotlight reindex the HDD.

This also happened to me after an applecare covered logicboard replcaement in my iMac.  Signing out of the App Store and then going back to purchases and signing back in fixed the issue for me.

It didn't work after all.  After repoening the app store the accept 2 apps screen showing iMovie and iPhoto are back.

Weird -- I've tried everything to no avail.

But, even though I still am seeing the "You have 2 apps to accept" message listing iMovie & iPhoto, those two apps now appear in my "Purchases" list and I am able to install them on other machines I own.

(Actually, two other Macs running Mavericks. Clicking "Install" on my Mountain Lion machine tells me they require 10.9)

Im having the same issue with iPhoto and iMovie.

I have tried deleting and re-installing both apps. Signing in and out of the appstore.

I only have one copy of the applications on my internal drive. Older copy's on my time machine drive.

I am now rebuilding the spotlight index. I hope this sorts it.

Anybody have any other ideas how this irritating issue can be fixed.

Re-building the spotlight index had no effect.
