iOS 7 upgrade - group messaging not working!

I have an iphone 4, and just upgraded to iOS 7. My group messaging isn't working anymore! I can still send a message to multiple people, but their replies come seperately under their individual names, rather than to the group. I can't for the life of me figure out how to fix it. I've checked everything under settings>messages and I can't see anything that might be stopping it... any ideas?

I have an iPhone 4S and do not have the group messaging option. I use the GroupText app which now works well after teething problems due to the iOS 7 upgrade. However to use this I have to switch off iMessage and SMS/MMS which is tedious as I have to remember to switch them back on again. Very disappointed with iOS 7 and dislike the look of the calendar, keyboard etc. etc. intensely.

I have been having a similar problem for weeks now. I have an iPhone 5S and am using the AT&T service. I get all imessages but if I am in a group message and some people are not on an idevice I do not get random messages from others and at times recieve messages 8 hours or more after they are sent. AT&T tried having me replace my sim and no fix. They reset my messaging within their system and still no help. It appears to be an IOS 7 issue because I know someone with an iPhone 5c and is having similar issues. I thought it was just the newer phones since others I know have an iphone 5 and 4s and no problem I have head fom them. I am calling AT&T again today and will update on that info later today.

Our 5s's are having the same issue, except we're on Verizon, which we just switched to from AT&T. When we used our old iPhones on AT&T, we had iMessage enabled. When we moved to Verizon, we decided to disable iMessage since we had unlimited texts and wanted to conserve data usage.

From the brief amount of testing we've done, it seems to be that non-apple recipients of our group texts are the ones that we are not hearing back from, although others in the group message are getting their responses. When we re-enable iMessage, we seem to be able to get responses from everybody.

I've tried going to iMessage on Mac, iPad, and iPhones, and unchecking our phone number, but that doesn't seem to have worked.

Hi all! I thought that one of you would've figured out by now (those that can see the group messaging button) that having group messaging ON (green) will cause replies to only come to you individually without going to everyone else. I believe that this was in response to people requesting that capability. I personally hate when (like today....Thanksgiving) when other people reply back to a group message from someone either not using iOS or with group messaging turned off on their phone (not sure about that because I wonder how they were able to send it in the first place) the messages go to EVERYone. I don't know those extra people so usually I end up seeing a lot of "Who is this?" Messages because other people might not have the responder in their address book. According to the iOS manual (yay for instructions), this can be prevented if the initiator of the message has group messaging ON. Then replies go only to them, not everyone else (see page 67 of 158). Hope this helps the others. I don't know what the issue is with the older phones. I have a 5s so I wanted to address the others that have newer models also.

"Send messages to a group (iMessage and MMS). Tap [the create new message icon] , then enter multiple recipients. With MMS, group messaging must also be turned on in Settings > Messages, and replies are sent only to you—they aren’t copied to the other people in the group"

Anyone have any ideas if my group message toggle is turned ON but with some group messages, I still get the replies in separate threads? When I open the messages, they still say they are Group MMS messages, but each person's reply comes back in a separate thread. This isn't the case with EVERY message as I have a group that works very well with 4 iOS users and one android users. The messages that don't work for me do work properly for other iOS users, so I'm very confused! Any ideas?

This is what I have come up with. Turn off iMessage. Send a group TEXT. then quickly double click go back to settings and turn I message on and your group responses should start coming in individually. I can't stand this notion of if you don't like it too bad. Blackberry has a lot if really serious issues, but group texting is not one of them. This is painful for business. But it seems to be working. I don't think the switchback to iMessage is necessary if iPhone is your only device running iMessage. But I found that if iMessage is off on phone but on the iPad then other iPhone users replies will find the iMessage rather than back to the phone w iMessage turned off. Please replie to let me know of this helps anyone else.

I have an Iphone 5 and had the same problem of not being able to reply to group messages. I tried turning the phone off, Imessage off, etc... What worked for me was to turn off group messages. Afterwards, I was able to reply to the group message that I recieved and got replies back from several. Hope this helps some of you, if not all.
