iPhone 4 restoring error (16)

I bought an iPhone 4 a few days ago and went to set it up as per usual. When I set it up, i did it from a back up like usual but from then on ive had nothing but problems. Firstly the set-up didnt work and got an error message that it could not be activated the phone. Tried it again, got same error. Then it ended up in recovery mode, tried to restore the phone, its get to the end of the recovery and get an error message "An unknown error occurred (16)" Entered the phone in DFU mode as well and tried same thing, still get same error message. Tried restoring from both a downloaded iOs and directly off the Apple server for both methods. Nothing seems to work. Anyone have any ideas as to what/where i should do next. Thanks.

Hello all,

I had this problem 3 days ago. It's show the message " need to connect to itunes...'' when I play the game Clash of Clans on iphone4. After I connect my PC, I couldn't see my device on itunes. I try many times to recovery the phone. But the error coed(16) was annoying. Even use another PC, it's still not working. Hope any one can solve the problem ASAP. There is hard working if live without iphone.

Hi!

I have the same error (16) just when it's almost finished the installation.

I phone Apple Barcelona and they tell me that MAYBE it's something about non oficial software installed, like jailbreak or something like that. When the installation is about to finish, ios7 trail something "malicious" and stops itunes.

Now I have my iphone4 only with itunes logo... I don't know what to do.

Sorry for my English.

I ended up going to the Apple Store. They tried to update it, experienced the same problem. So, they said it was a hardware issue.

I said, "How is this is a hardware issue that manifested itself the instant I tried to upgrade?"

Shrug. "It could be due to a bent pin in the USB port."

I tried to get them to downgrade back to iOS6, but he said they couldn't do that.

I bet that if we wait long enough, a solution will be available... but I couldn't wait, so I paid the $250 for a replacement.

Luckily, the replacement was brand new! It was still an iPad 2, but it was flawless and untouched. Hopefully it lasts a few more years.

I can confirm that every thing I tried on a Windows PC I have now done again on a Macbook Pro and guess what? still the same error 16. Luckily the phone is one I am trying to get running again for a friend and not my own. I have repaired and updated coutless of iphones and ipads including my own without a hitch but this is certainly something to do with the IOS 7 upgrade. I believe that the people who are having this problem may have had something in common installed which has resulted in this error happening. I am not ready to give up yet and if I do find the answer I will post back.

I have a repair shop, I repair all sorts of phones, both iphones and androids. I have a phone from a customer right now, its an iPhone 4 GSM model. With error 16. This phone was working perfectly until updated to ios 7.02. It was working on 7.0 just fine. It has never been jailbroken. it is ATT. Everyone else with these problems, what model phone is it, what carrier? The ipads, are these wifi only ipads? I would like to know everyones specs so I can see if I can learn something from this.

I changed the charge port, screen, and every part, trying to see if it was hardware, but if it is hardware it would be motherboard related, and cause by the new OS. I have updated in DFU mode and normal mode. I am not sure what applications were installed on this phone.
