iPhone 4 restoring error (16)

I bought an iPhone 4 a few days ago and went to set it up as per usual. When I set it up, i did it from a back up like usual but from then on ive had nothing but problems. Firstly the set-up didnt work and got an error message that it could not be activated the phone. Tried it again, got same error. Then it ended up in recovery mode, tried to restore the phone, its get to the end of the recovery and get an error message "An unknown error occurred (16)" Entered the phone in DFU mode as well and tried same thing, still get same error message. Tried restoring from both a downloaded iOs and directly off the Apple server for both methods. Nothing seems to work. Anyone have any ideas as to what/where i should do next. Thanks.

No Help here. I was still using iOS 6 and hadn't upgraded. I suspect this is a hardware crash. I first noticed the Wifi indicator "Searching." Then when I tried to reboot the phone it wouldn't shut off. Had to force it off. Then it wouldn't come on and when it did, the home screen was in the grey ios 6 screen. I could only let connect to itunes. Took it up to Apple they said, re-install...I tried that last night. error (16) and another.

I really fixed this error 16 on an iPhone 4 16g.

-This is how I did it-

Just like people said I pulled the battery BUT this did not immediately solve the error 16. I restored 3 or 4 times after the first battery pull and got the error 16 each time.

***the successful restore

I pulled the battery then I held the power button for 1 minute to make sure the iphone lost all charge. Then I left it unconnected to its battery for a half hour while I did some work.

After I reconnected the battery & restored i n dfu mode it got pass the error.

Note

Restored on Windows 7

Itunes software and windows OS Software is all up to date

Taking off the back of the 4 was crazy easy...the whole thing took 1 minute and 3 screws ~ don't be discouraged ~
