iphone5s - clicky, noisy home button

Hi all, my new iPhone 5s has a more plastic type click sound to it when you press the home button. Compared to any other iPhone I have had, this is the most "clicky".

I suppose it is to do with the new finger print sensor, BUT - wanted to ask out there if most other people notice this before I accept it is the change in design. Don't want to miss the window to check out this click with the store under their new purchase policy.

Thanks all 🙂

Definitely noticeable. Tough to be icgonito using the 5S. Not sure if all devices have the issue, but it seems that at least yours and mine do. So many details missed in the new phone and the new iOS. Jobs never would have tolerated this. What happened to the beautiful, crisp, clean product mantra? Between flying folders and clicking buttons, these will be good party favors for New Year's Eve.

My 5S also has this problem, previous phone i had was iPhone 4 which button was just silent, you pressed it and you could feel the click but any sound, I'm usually working in a quiet environment which makes using my 5S annoying because of "click click click". But when you click on the edge of the button there's almost no click sound but in my oppinion for that amount of money we've spent the button should work just silent when you press it flat with your thumb... And don't have any service options for my country which makes me even more sad, because i can't replace it with a warranty etc. And as I see, I am not the only person that complains about it 😐

Well, to be honest iPhone 5s is a great piece of hardware in my oppinion, been asking friends who also got the 5S, and after few months of use they also have clicks when pressing home button. I just got used to that after whole day of using my phone and i think i'm starting to enjoy it as I should. What about home button is that I'm just pressing it at it's edge so i don't really hear the "click" and that's it. I cannot count on having it replaced because of my country so there's just nothing left but enjoying it the way it is 🙂. And I also hope for the home button to stop clicking after months of use like i had with my iPhone 4 that the mechanism under the button was worn out after two and a half year and became silent. 🙂.

Good luck with your replacement! Make sure to post if it helped.

I purchased my iPhone 5s on Friday and notices right after I left the store that the home button was loud I do realize different material was used but I couldn't stand spending so much money on something that annoyed me. I made an appointment with the Genius Bar and they brought out two different iPhones and they also made the button snap sound. I am debating on swapping mine for the lower version 5c if I cannot get past this frustrating sound. Has anyone else traded their 5s for the 5c and of so are you satisfied with the trade ? Or is the phone obviously slower and not up to par speed wise ? Itself could do without the finger sensor.

For information - and hope it helps.

Replacing a new product with a 'second hand' refurbished product is wrong and unfair - it is also contrary to consumer law in many countries.

In the UK if a product is faulty, the consumer has the legal right to choose either a replacement (not refurbished), a repair or a full (or partial) refund if the product is less than six months old. If the product is older than six months the consumer still has these rights but the burden of proof moves to the consumer.

Please don't be put off by Apple spouting policy as this cannot over ride your statutory rights.

I had the same problem but i solved it and its been one week now and its working very good at least the clicking is far smother and without load voice

* I sprayed my Home Button with Alcohol spray which you buy from the pharmacy

2 Normal Spays on the home button while pressing 2 or 3 long press ( anyway alcohol evaporates in seconds so don't worry nothing will happen

I Fixed mine 4 days ago, dipped the cotton bud stick in the nail colour remover liquid and applied the cotton bud stick gently on the ring of the home button. Worked like magic, really and its been 4 days now. No click sound at all, home button feels just like my 4s, soft and smooth! I know its stupid but give it a try guys, worked for me and now im relieved!

I have that when pressing the home button NOT when releasing it ...and while pressing

its feels like you try to press something that has been glued for a long time and it makes a louder ticking noise

i Never dropped my phone or anything like that since i got it...maybe a very light hit on the carpet from a very short distance

but not a serious damage, and i saw that on my phone today at around 8 or 9 AM (egypt time zone)

and yesterday at "Monday 6th, April, 2015" nothing like that came from the button while using it

I hope anyone here lets me know if he/she has the same issue as mine AND/OR tell me why this happens

(NOTE: After pressing hard on the button it works like the first time i got it...only between 2 and 5 mins it sticks and makes the louder noise)
