what does "S" mean in iphone 3GS?

There is some logic to the suggestion that (with regard to the iPhone 3GS) it stands for speed since it was designed to be faster than its predecessor, but as Meg says there is no official designated meaning.

Whether or not it actually means anything at all is something no one knows, but that is what he said when they announced the product.

It means it's the phone after the 3G. There is no official indication that it means anything other than that.

The unofficial definition is:

C = colour

S = security
