Lock Screen notification center - I want messages to show in the N/C but not on the actual lock screen itself. Any way to do this?

In ios7, is there any way to have incoming text messages show up in the notification center on the lock screen but not pop up on the actual lock screen itself? I cant get this combination to work and it seems like it shoud. The text notificaitons do not show at all on the L/S notification center unless I choose the allow on lock screen option. But this not only puts it in the L/S notification center but also adds it to the lock screen itself. I dont want it to do both.

Thanks Dave... That's what I'm thinking but it doesn't make sense to me why messages has a third control that overrides your lock screen notification center settings. My basic settings are to include messages in the notification center and to allow the notification center on the lock screen. This combination excludes messages from showing on the lock screen because it's actually dependent on the third control that gives you all or nothing. Seems unnecessary. I'm hoping that this is something that will get fixed.

Hey,

Ya i so agree to this question.

Its completely stupid and useless to have notifications on the lock screen.

There should be an option where we can view them on the notification centre in locked screen, and not actually on front of the screen.

They should really fix this.

For eg- my imsg keeps buzzing and i get messages from people which i dont want others near me to see, so if only notification center is there i can access it from lock screen and push it back up.

I was having the same problem and I finally was able to make it work. If you go into settings>general settings> reset all settings the phone should power back up in a minute. Then it will have all the settings reset as if you just took the phone out of the box. If you go into notification center and go into each different app you can click off the 'show on lock screen' when I did that after resetting, I can finally access the notification center on the lock screen without all of the notifications popping up. Just for reference I have a Verizon 5s. Hope this helps!

I agree with Steven and like Elena, I'm running 7.0.4 on a Verizon 5s.

But like Royce, I can't get my phone to display alerts ONLY in the notification center when I swipe the lock screen -- either they display both on the lock screen and on swipe, or they don't display either place, and I have to unlock the phone to swipe down the notifications center. Don't know why it has to be an all-or-nothing thing. I would reset as Elena suggests, but won't that get rid of everthing I've already spent days setting up, like my email accounts? Probably not worth it.

The stuff in the Today tab displays upon swipe on the lock screen. But under the ALL tab, it's always blank, unless I change the individual settings to show on my lock screen -- and then they show on the screen itself.

Sigh.

Your email accounts will not actually be reset. The only things that will get reset if you hit reset settings will be your homescreen and lockscreen (your pictures will still be on your phone they just default back to the initial ones), the size of your text, the sounds you use for text messages and ringtones (any of the ones that you have specifically customized for certain contacts will not be reset it's only the ones that you use for yourself) and a couple other minor things. None of the apps that you have to set up personall as in facebook or twitter will reset. I really recommend do this, nothing major will get reset on the phone it's just some minor settings. Just make sure to hit 'Reset All Settings' and NOT 'Reset All Content And Settings'.

I've also tried it with messages app specifically after I hit 'Reset All Settings' and it works like a charm. No messages pop up on my screen but I can access and preview in the notification center without having to unlock my phone.

So I tried the method you suggested. I reset all of my settings. Went through and re-setup all of my settings and set my messages so they would show in the notifications in the lock screen, but not on the lock screen itself. It worked great!

...initially.

After it was working for about 5-10min, my phone randomly went to the black Apple logo screen for about 30sec then back to my lock screen as if nothing happened. After that it stopped showing my messages in the notification center on the lock screen.

I might try the reset agains, but the hassle of setting everything up all over again almost makes it not worth it if it's not going to work again.

The setting described in the original post is probably the setting that most people want. However, it doesn't work properly. This settting worked for me earlier today. Now, all of a sudden, it doesn't work. This is a bug in iOS, plain and simple. Even if Apple fixes this bug, I won't have confidence in this setting. I'll forever be unlocking my phone to see if I have notifications.

For reference, I'm running iOS 7.1.1 on an iPhone 4s. I am unwilling to try resetting all my settings to try to fix this problem. It took me about 3 days to get my settings how I want them. Plus, I should not have to reset my settings to solve this problem. Apple needs to fix this bug.
