Develop an Airplay-Receiver

Hello Apple Team,

I have a similar question. I am not clear on the MFI developer licensing after reading its details :-(

MFI always talks about Airplay for Audio Technology. So, the queries that I have is before our company signs to the MFI program are -

(a) Is it a hardware specific program ? or we will need this licensing for Airplay server software too ?

(b) In one of your reply, you say "This program is for anyone developing hardware for Airplay." Here is the confusion, say if we want to mirror an IOS device to a MAC within the same network using device's Airplay option, what is the hardware here ?

(c) Our intention is to create our own Airplay receiver ( similar application to Air server ) which can support mirroring of the content( audio, video, screen or any ) using the Airplay protocol that is already complaint on the IOS devices.

(d) In most of the google forums, there are talks on private/public key combination where content are sent encrypted using public key and server should decrypt using the private key. We see some keys hacked in general forums but there is no clear cut information on what should be used and proceed for us to build the server in the right way and not the hacked way. We have to mirror the IOS devices to any custom server that we create is the intention.

Please let us know the procedure to be followed if we have to build our own Airplay server complaint to Airplay protocol.

You should talk your Thesis advisor maybe your school has an arangment with Apple

I'm also doing a thesis on Airplay receiver, only bad for me is my University doesn't have an agreement with Apple nor would support me to file one soon. I'd like to chat/mail with you if you can help me kickstart this matter.

We are developing an Audio Entertainment product based on Linux OS. We want to add AirPlay receiver support in our product and need AirPlay receiver software on Linux. What kind of licensing is required here? Could you please provide more details?
