My Photo Stream is empty with iCloud Control Panel 3.0

I've got iPhone, iPad and PC (Windows 8) in sync with iCloud Control Panel 2 properly before.

Days ago I upgraded to iCloud Control Panel 3.0, Other shared photo streams and iCloud bookmarks are sync perfectly but "My Photo Stream" is not sync on PC anymore. I've cleaned up iCloud Photos sync folder completely and signed in to the iCloud Control Panel again, but "My Photo Stream" is just not sync.

Any idea?

your procedure worked for me on Windows 7 - 64bit with iCloud Control Panel 3.1, great - many thanks

  • Kill these processes:
    ApplePhotoStreams.exe , ApplePhotoStreamDownloader.exe , APSDaemon.exe , iCloudServices.exe , iCloud.exe
  • Delete this folder:
    %AppData%\Apple Computer\MediaStream
  • Launch iCloud Control Panel. You will notice that Photos is not sync. Enable it and apply it.

Hi My photostream stopped syncing with my windows 7 x86 setup about 3 weeks ago and after trying lots of different things mentioned here I just wanted to share what worked for me. this may not work for everyone but it did for me.

sign out of Cloud control panel first.

simply delete the folders in c:\users\******\pictures\ PHOTOSTREAM and ICLOUD PHOTOS I had both in there one from version 2.1 and the newer one from version 3 CC panel.

sign back into Cloud control panel and the iCloud photos gets recreated automatically and then your pictures start to download into the photostream.

My photostream is now upto date with all pictures synced and new ones being added.

Hope this helps someone.

So not sure if this will help people but here is a somewhat fix or at least get more pictures. It atleast is allowing me to sync more of my pictures. Ps. I am not sure if anyone has tried this yet. I tried reading the entire thread but stopped mid way and havent seen it yet so here i go.

Ps. I have Windows 8.0 x64

1. If you have not installed iCloud center yet create a restore point.

*If you already have it, go and restore from a previous point before iCloud control center was ever installed*

2. Install iCloud Control Panel 2.1.2 from apple: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1687

3. Do not open it! Restart PC.

4. Open up and sign in leave the default directories. Start syncing your pics until it stops. It'll start all fast and slow down until eventually stop.

5. Open up Apple Software update. ie press windows button and do a search for "Apple Software Update"

Itll say "iCloud Control Panel 3.1" install the update and at the end itll ask to restart. Hit yes and restart it.

6. When it boots up go ahead and search for iCloud CP and itll ask for your password. Or at least it did for me. sign in.

*Important!!!!!!!! As it seems. iCloudCP only syncs photos that are not saved in the directory.

ie: C:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\Pictures\Photo Stream\My Photo Stream

NOTE: That up here ^ is the directory from 2.1.2.8

In iCloudCP 3.1 it is : C:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\Pictures\iCloud Photos\My Photo Stream

So youll have 2 Folders created by iCloudCP for photo streams in your pictures folder

Photo Stream and iCloud Photos

when you sign in into iCloudCP be sure to set the path to C:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\Pictures\Photo Stream

and not to C:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\Pictures\iCloud Photos

This way when it starts syncing it will fetch new photos since it will not sync duplicate files.

I got a couple 150 more pictures

I am at 383 now. It seems to have stopped now and I will see if i can actualy back up the Photostreams folder

Restore to the restore point before i installed and reinstall 2.1.2.8.

Then restore the Photo streams folder that i backed up with the already somewhat synced pics and sign in then see if itll fetch even more new pics.

Cannot guarantee it will work for everyone but give it a shot.

I would like to note that after doing this and setting the default directory on 3.1 to the same as the directory from 2.1.2.8

The favourite link that says iCloud photos shows "My Photo Stream" actually doesn show it synching the photos itll either say i do not have photostream enabled in iCloudCP or itll show the My Photo Stream thumbnail with smaller thumbnail of photos in it but upon opening it. It will show nothing.

I monitored the progress by opening(C:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\Pictures\Photo Stream\My Photo Stream ) and it slowly added pics.

Jan 22, 2014 11:44 AM in response to Alex Ieong

Hmmmm. Well, I attempted to follow your procedure. First, of the processes you said we should kill, many of them were simply not there:

  • ApplePhotoStreams.exe not there
  • ApplePhotoStreamDownloader.exe , not there (but ...Uploader.exe was)
  • APSDaemon.exe , not there
  • iCloudServices.exe not there
  • iCloud.exe actually, what is said was icloud.ese (32 bit). Is there a 64 bit???

So, I killed the two that were there from this list, then deleted the ...\MediaStream folder.

And when I relaunched the iCloud Control Panel ... no change, pictures not syncing.

I have confirmed that the photos are in the iCloud by looking at them with iPhoto on my iPad.

Any updates since Decemeber that might help?

Thanks,

Dave

For me, I run Win8, iCloud version 3.1, iPod Touch 5th Generation.

To upload pictures from my PC to iCloud, I go to: pictures/icloud photos/uploads

Then without using any folders, just drag drop (or copy paste) the pictures I want to upload. Should show up within a min on my iPod's My Photo Stream. (I noticed that if I use folders, the images will not upload).

Then I go to my iPod My Photo Stream and select the images I want to place in an album. After I select my images, I look down at the bottom of the screen on my iPod and hit "Add To". This creates a new album to organize these pictures. 🙂

Hope it works for you.

My Photo Stream is empty with iCloud Control Panel 3.0
