wifi greyed out after update to ios7

After upgrading from a 100% functional iphone 4s from ios 6 to ios 7.

wifi stopped working. after reboot, wifi setting is greyed out. bluetooth button is shown as busy circle...

done: network reset, backup restore, dfu mode with fresh ios7 file....

turning wlan on in new config bar is available, but does not turn on wifi....

apple diagnostic tool said that I have a charging problem, but everything is fine with charging batteries.

I can not believe that there a so many coincidences with hardwareproblems?

Same issue — no wifi after upgrade, using a 4S. I did the network reset, etc., and then did a backup/restore (reminded of how annoying it is that the restore doesn't actually restore the machine to where it was completely (e.g., audible books not downloaded).

At first the wifi was working. But then I was getting funky freezes in, e.g., Message. And then I restarted, and back to no wifi.

Yes, wjjw, You are correct...Its Freezing now...I notice that too....The major issue came after iOS7 upgrade is WiFi greyed out (i.e. disaabled) for which Apple is responsible to making the 4S h/w failure or a s/w issue....Hope apple should fix it and release a new iOS7 version as soon as possible or gave a chance to customers to downgrade it to iOS6....

To whatever poster asked if Apple reads these forums, in short: No.

That is by and large the only real way to be heard.

The device comes with a 1 year hardware warranty. It's unfortunate that this happens, but that is what is provided. You had the option to buy AppleCare or AppleCare Plus at the time of purchase (or 30 days thereafter), but most of you didn't. That, quite frankly, is your only option. You arent going to be provided an exception. Unless something major happens, this is what it is. Complaining in a discussion thread, or yelling at an advisor over the phone in chat won't resolve your issues at all (and the latter will make you a terrible human being, as advisors can't do anything else for you either).

In warranty: fixed.

Out of warranty: Pay out of warranty pricing for new device.

That's great Evan, however Apple are providing a sub-standard product, and it's becoming clear that people shouldnt trust their upgrades in fear of damaging their devices.

Up until the point of reading these posts I was about to kit out my business with Apple, however it seems as though they cannot be trusted, and I cannot take the risk of paying out for equipment that does not work.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with that statement. I agree that its unfortunate, but I'm leaving my personal opinion out of it. I'm just dealing in facts here. I'm in a position to experience issues like this on a daily basis, and I know firsthand that it's not fun hearing this complaint over and over again, knowing there is no recourse.

There is no real solution if restoring the device doesn't work other than getting the phone replaced, in or out of warranty. No matter who much complaining you do, it's not going to change.

For me the whole iOS7 experience has been from ****. Basically since the day I updated neither my iPhone or iPad work properly. Even my iPad which is a 3rd generation one glitches and has his own mind in general. Seems like a bipolar deamon has decided to move into it.

My iPhone is even worse, trying to make a call takes ages, trying to check calendar or do anyting while in a call agreeing to business meetings is impossible. And now my WiFi doesn't work 😟

I don't like this a bit. For a good few years I've been living in a fairy tale where everything works. My Mac, iPhone and iPad have worked like dreams. And BAG I'm back to the Windows sensation.

We all make mistakes, Apple isn't perfect either and we understand that. But just admit to the mistake. Take a step back, analyze and try again. We won't judge. In the end, we the core users are the future of Apple. The flip-floppers who change their minds every day can be won back. So listen to your core users, please.

Ive is a genious of product design. But maybe he isn't suited to lead software development. We all have our strenghts and weeknesses.
