This was actually the most useful answer.
To anyone having this issue: Make sure only ONE mail is turned on. For my case, I had a yahoo and Gmail account's "Mail" turned on both at once - it automatically turns them on if you ever create both. Simply only have one account with mail turned on.
My assumption is that once one has both turned on, it doesn't know which account to send mail from, or it tries to send from both at once and seizes up.
Most email services have a limit on the size of a message; the limit is typically 10 MB. A photo is 4 MB, and is no problem, but videos are much larger and can easily exceed the 10 MB limit. This is a limit imposed by the email provider, and has nothing to do with the iPhone.
but these are only 10 second videos, and i've been able to do it just fine before sending them 1 at a time. in fact a fluke happened and i was able to do it with one video, but now i'm back to the same problem i had before. normally if a video is too long a thing will just show up telling me to trim the video. but it's not even doing that.
If I follow all the above directions it just never arrives at the gmail address - sometimes it does but mostly it just disappears, I can try it several times and nothing arrives. Very frustrating when someone is waiting for the picture and it never gets there - when testing by sending it to myself it also does not arrive.
You haven't posted to this thread before, so it isn't clear that your issue is the same as the one being discussed. But if you send a picture by email there is a size limit imposed by every email provider on the size of a message. If you send more than one picture in the same email you will usually exceed the size limit of most email systems and the message will not be delivered. So that is one possibility. Another is that the message is delivered to the gmail spam folder. So ask the recipient to check there.
Thank you - I was trying everything in this thread without success - And when I removed the unlimitedphotos tweak - my phone worked again thru the iphone camera app
So after reading through all of this I have to say this just happened to me as well. I have an iPhone 4S and recently installed IOS9. With ALL previous IOS versions I was able to send multiple photos from my photo library via e-mail. I use gmail through the mail app on the phone. All of the sudden I do not have that option and do not have the option to make any changes described above, for example inputting password in settings etc.
As I read through all of this it is very odd that the only way I can send a photo is by clicking in the body of the e-mail and adding it there, this has NEVER been a problem for me and has just come up with the most recent IOS 9.
I do not even get the email option when I choose 1 photo, it has disappeared...
Any tips would help.
I just sent 2 photos by selecting them in the Photos app, tapping the Share icon, then mail. So it's working as it always has for me. There's likely a problem with your specific phone, rather than the version.
Maybe this will work for others too. I had tried to get this to work a while back (IOS 7) but gave up. After moving to IOS 9 the other day, I was frustrated that I couldn't send photos via my gmail account (Text and IMessage was fine). They always defaulted to the blue mail app that was not set up (by design) and were sitting in the outbox-unsent. So here is what worked for me. Select the pics like normal, then use the blue box with up arrow. Here you will find the text and Mail app (that never sends them) plus print and some other choices. Move to the right in that list (usually Flicker, Facebook and others are there). Go to the 3 "dots" (for more) and press it (for additional selections). There you will see your gmail icon, so move the slider to "on". Now it works like you wanted it too (Just remember to select gmail in that list and not the default blue mail app). Hope this helps someone else-it worked for me.
Excellent! This worked. Thank you so much!
hooray, I've tried to resolve this for ages I think it's an IOS problem because like others have said it comes and goes. This worked thank you so much x
🙂
...did that....email not showing rec'd. I have checked "junk mail" etc. Nadda...I used different email...nadda. I use this all the time and now just will not work...
This worked with the latest op system as of 10/2016 as well the only difference was
Settings/mail/accounts/gmail(in my case)/ I had to enter password as well and the photos immediately arrived.
Problem: Can’t send photos on iPhone 7 as well as iPhone 5s from Camera Roll via Mail, though could send photos from Camera Roll by Message on new iPhone 7 as well as iPhone 5s. (i.e.- select photo in Camera Roll, select little icon that is blue and looks like a rectangle with an arrow on top of it, and the select Mail or Message to send the Photo).
Details: This occurred both on my wife’s new iPhone 7 (iOS 10.0.3) and on her iPhone 5S (iOS 9.3.5) that I took over. Photos could be not be sent via Camera Roll with Mail even though the “swish” sound of a successful transmission was heard. In looking in Sent Mail within email app, no record of an email being sent for the attempt was found, despite the swish sound. Photos could be successfully sent as attachment from Camera Roll via Message or by opening the Gmail app in IPhone and sending photo as an attachment. The setup on both phones was facilitated by the Apple Store personnel at the time of IPhone 7 purchase. (The IPhone 7 always had this problem since we obtained it about a week ago. The IPhone 5s prior to the transfer to me had no problem with sending photos from Camera Roll via Mail).
The simple solution of closing all apps and turning IPhone completely off and then restarting IPhone which has worked for some people as per online posts, didn’t work for us.
Solution for us for worked on both phones (IPhone 7 as well as the IPhone 5s that I took over):
Open Settings icon on IPhone and scroll down and select “Mail, Contacts, Calendars”. Then under Accounts, select: Gmail-Mail, then select “Delete Account”. Then select “Add Account”. For adding a Gmail account, select “Google”. Tap on the “Enter your email” space and then type in your email address. Then tap “Done” and “Next” button. Then enter email password and select “Next”. Then select “Save” in the top right corner and your done.
This fix worked on both phones and allowed photos to be sent directly from the Camera Roll using Mail. Apparently in the setup process something about the gmail address or password that was entered became corrupted.
Additional details: In the above setup process, the phones said Gmail-Mail because they had already been set up with our respective gmail accounts. If you had previously set your phone up with Yahoo email instead of Gmail-Mail being shown, you would see Yahoo-Mail rather than Gmail-Mail for example. In that case, delete the Yahoo email account and set up again the Yahoo email account in a similar fashion to instructions for setting up the gmail account above. (If you had never setup an email account, you would directly proceed to “Add Account”).
If you have multiple email accounts, I would consider deleting them all, and then adding them back one by one, as desired.
I have posted this solution that worked for us in detail because I spent hours on the web looking for solution, even went to the Apple Genius bar without a successful solution. I found this by “doodling with the phones” trying to fix an irritating, if not critical, problem. For those this solution helps, the goal is to save some time and frustration.
Thanks for doing the research and providing the advice.
This worked for me exactly as described. Thanks!
