itunes not syncing since IOS 7

Since IOS 7 I cant sync my iPad 3 or iPhone 5

First it appeared to be just photos so i turned off syncing to a folder in the photo tab but it now get hung on Determining tracks to Sync step 5/6

The sync appears to go fine until it gets to step 5 as above and iTunes still appears to be accessing the drives for a while but the barber pole progress bar is static and eventually the external drive access light stops and ITunes just drops out of syncing no error messages no sync

ITunes does not sync anything, no my new audio books, no new apps etc if I look under the app tab iTunes thinks it has installed the new apps becuase they have remove by each new app name, but it has not as the apps are not on either device, same with audio etc.

My old Iphone 3g (IOS 4.2) still syncs ok so i can listen to my new adiobook on that, at present, but neither my iphone 5 or my ipad 3 will accept new items.

This happened since i installed IOS7 and iTunes 11.1 my mac is running Mac OS10.8.5 and unfortunately Apple Does not allow you to go back to an older IOS

i sync via USB to my devices as i alter alot of the details in my books etc like Book series, book number in series and narrator etc and it means i only need to download the books once and sync the ones i want to itunes.

I have done a warm reset (power button only) and cold reset (power and home button) on both devices but still the issue exists.

I hate IOS 7 its hard to read (yes i know about bold print) and this issue does not make me warm to it.

Also does any one know how to shut off auto play of podcasts in itunes 11.1 even the ones you have marked as manual download are auto uploaded and played.

Itunes Radio for those that are looking for it outside the US should stop looking as it is US only.

Any help on the syncing issue would be appreciated sending Apple emails appears to fall on deaf ears . . .

It is not just with Audible, trying to transfer to iTunes with OverDrive has the same probem.

Yes, Audible changed the file name, but new or old purchase, they won't sync.

Read my post two above your's or second from the bottom of page one of this thread.

I'm glad you contacted Apple and Audible, even thought it is Apple's bug in iTunes 11.1.x. Audible will put more pressure on Apple to fix it.

As a workaround, download and use the Auible.app to move it over to your iPod Touch.

Hi

As stated previously I can't sync old or new Audible DRM Files to any device with IOS 7 with the latest itunes BUT I can sync old and new Audible DRM Files to my old iPhone 3G running IOS 4.6 with the latest ITunes. I wish I could still sync my old files, on IOS 7 devices but maybe that might have something to do with the fact that earlier this year I merged my Audible Account with my Amazon one.

I too can still listen to old and new books synced before IOS 7 on my newer iPhone with IOS 7 installed ( i wiped my iPad but not my phone in attempt to discern what was causing the sync problem) but i can't do an iTunes sync with that device and do updates to newer IOS 7 based phone's apps etc direct on the phone.

Thank you for your input the more people putting pressure on all parties involved the more likely we will get it fixed sooner rather than later.

Everyone needs to keep pressure on the developers/Audible/Apple involved in this issue and place comments on open forums like Twitter etc to bring even more pressure to bear to get this issue fixed.

Companies like Audible have more pull with Apple than mere mortals such as us which is why I am grateful for their involvement in this issue but again the more people pushing Audible the more they are likely to place on Apple.

Unfortunately public reaction appears to be the only way you can get companies to admit let alone address an issue. Public perception is the holly grail to these people and they only seem to react when their shiny armor get tarnished

I had this same issue. After rebooting my computer, and reopening itunes, i noticed a pop up message. It said none of your music is selected. this may cause it not to sync. So i highlighted my entire music directory, right click and check selection, clicked on my phone and set it to sync specific list artist songs. And it worked

So even if you select to sync entire library, or just selected stuff, and all the artisit are checked on the syn page. They still need to be checked in your main library.

LJLANG,

Nope, not the problem. I have been syncing to my iDevices since 2005. I have been using Apple products since 1998.

Everything was selected, that I wanted to sync, and iTunes could access and play them. It is a bug in iTunes 11.1.x. I have been working with Apple Senior Advisors for over 3 weeks on this.

I have a temporary work around, until Apple puts out a fix. So I am not looking for another work around from users.

Hi

It would appear that the latest Itunes (11.1.2) update has fixed my Audible sync issue with IOS 7 ( i have not updated from 10.8.5 to Mavicks yet )

Once again Mac OS is free like it used to be until just before Mac OS 10 came out.

I also noticed that podcast autoplay on my Mac has sort of been fixed in this update.

Since Itunes 11 once you started to watch a podcast the next oldest one would auto play after it finished and if you changed your podcasts to manual download it would auto upload and then play.

now it still starts to auto play but it cuts it off thus you hear a small sound byte and if the next podcast is not uploaded to your computer it will start to upload it and you get a grey screen but once again once it starts to play its cut off almost imediately. looks like a quick and dirty fix to me.

This might work better under mavricks but i am going to give it a few weeks to see if too many people have issues before i update my mac.

Thanks to all those who took part in this thread.

hopefuly this itunes Audible DRM fix will not get "lost" agin in future uodates.

Hope the update works for the rest of you.

I just checked Apples site and according to it

iTunes 11.1.2 for Mac OS X

Macintosh System Requirements

  • Mac computer with an Intel Core processor
  • OS X version 10.6.8 or later
  • 400MB of available disk space
  • Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store

If it still does not show maybe you should download it direct form Apple at

Think I've stumbled across the solution by accident. I was getting incredibly frustrated after trying to sync my phone and was going to restore it... iTunes said I needed to turn off 'find my phone' (in my phone settings) prior to restoring so I turned it off and voila - all of a sudden my music synced without restoring anything. Phew! Apple really need to sort this out though - it's a complete shambles!

After fooling around with this for a while, not only did iTunes 11.1.2 and iOS 7.0.3 not work but it totoally made it worse. The music that I did have on my iPhone still visually appears on my phone but doesn't play. If I were to click a song to play, it skips to the next, then the next, and so on until the playlist or album is over and then boots me back to the library screen.

Along with Music not working properly, my Podcasts are so messed up. iTunes somehow downloaded every single archived Podcast of everything I've subscribed to - and put them on my iPhone (kind of). Like I said before, whenever I go to listen to a Podcast on my iPhone, I have to delete them and re-download them from the Cloud.

Any ideas?
