iOS 7 draining iPhone battery

Is anyone else having difficulty since the new update. It is really draining my battery very quickly. The new colors are making it harder to see the icons.

iPhone 5, iOS 7

Now I KNOW you are bs ing the forum as 2 hours means 120 minutes or 1% drop every 1 minute and 12 seconds. Even at 1% at every 3 minutes they would admit there is something wrong. So no I do not believe you a second. When Apple sent me their diagnostic iMS app they could tell I had a drain vs no actual usage. I am sorry but your tantrum and information suggests a lot of untruths on your behalf. Even when I had the issue I wondered around the mall and the store saw the battery drop 10% in 30 minutes doing nothing. Thats how they knew, factually.

Nope I do not believe you.

Oct 28, 2013 9:23 PM in response to Beisarius

I don't care if you believe me. It actully around 3-4 hours to die from 100% while not using it. Imagine if I actully was using it...I'm not the only to complain of this problem. Read pervious post this very thread. Battery goes down 1% ever <2 minutes....do you honestly think I would come on here to just randomly lie about my phone battery failure. Yes I have that much free time on my hands

Oct 29, 2013 3:28 AM in response to SanAntonioSpurs

Yes, I read the previous posts, in fact, I posted draining at 1% every 2 min. The problem was hardware which ios 7 for some reason, exposed. Then they replaced my phone with a beautifully working one.

So no, I do not believe you that you drain a 1400 mah battery in 3-4 hours or 480 mah per hour when not even using it AND (logical AND) that you went at the Apple store and they found no problem. They can tell mah drain vs usage actually. Had you just claimed the drain I would have believed you, but adding the second premise I do not. The Apple store would do :

- a clean install-

- on site observation if necessary, even 30 min.

Do I believe they told you "There you go sir, your phone works well" while having lost 25% in 30 min? NOT AT ALL

And yes often some people have free time just to seek attention. I think you have a hardware issue, I think you are frustrated for not having Apple Care, and I also think you are trying to blame the IOS and Apple for things they did not do.

Did you know a single drop can affect the battery inside the phone? I once had the battery back replaced in the iPhone 5 after it got loose. Yet I use a good case. However, the phone must have been shorting as it was never as good as its replacement I got now.

SO go at the Apple Store, have them observe what you mentionl then come here with an actual problem. Insulting the Apple brand reflects badly upon yourself, especially when I dod not believe you actually tried their methods. At the very least $ 100 to REPLACE the battery, and if it works GREAT. If not YOU WOULD HAVE GOTTEN YOUR MONEY BACK. So your $ 200 rant is really not believable.

What do you mean?

"Either case you are not making it easy on yourself."

I was joining a discussion to help shed light on bad services and practise by apple, not looking for an easy life.

I am going to put your bluntness down to the fact that your appalling grasp of english causes your point to get lost or misunderstood in translation or written text.

No problem...

After installing iOS7 on my iPhone 4, battery life went from 2+ days minimum to 6 hours. I've been using this phone for 3+ years, haven't changed any significant settings, and I use it 95% for listening to my music and audio all day. I seldom use WiFi, let alone Cellular Data, and almost never make or receive phone calls or messages. (Hey, it's The Wife's account! ☺️) Email and web surfing is all on my new iPad 4--which isn't having any battery issues with iOS7. Help!

I suggest all users in this discussion thread to move to the following discussion on the same issue.

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5329381?answerId=23570092022#23570092022

That discussion forum has many more users with the same problem and much more information available. Enough probably to make even members of the Apple sect like Beisarius to rethink their "opinion" on out-of-warranty Apple owners that got their expensive device screwed up by the company mandatory OS update ....and are now made fun of by the sect members.

Apple is a cult and the Apple community has all the characterizing features of a religious sect. Sect members will never see reality in an objective way and will never admit any fault from the sect dogma.

Please go to https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5329381?answerId=23570092022#23570092022 and you will see that MANY people have exactly the same problem.

And sorry for PT47 ...you have been experiencing exactly the same symptoms that all of us in these forums have. Apple will deny the existence of the problem. They cannot admit such a big flaw. Sorry but we will have to buy a new phone. I will soon as I cannot recharge 3 times a day anymore.

I am oriented towards an android system although I do not particularly like android OS ...but at least it will be be more reliable.

Good luck to all of us.

Actualyl disgruntled my response was both elegant and easy to understand. Unlike yours, not at all berrating. One could easily answer your text with "Drop the narcississm or dissociative beahvior, the problem does not appear to be your phone but rather your perception of that said problem, your handling of, as well as your perception of the Apple world. Drop attention seeking and tantrums suggesting immaturity and an inability to engage in complex problem solving or cognitive thinking. It is recommended you seek Apple Technical assistance or counselling." Dixit. (Latin for said) Then again I would nto go about berrating like you do.

how is that for english?

Another presumptuous thinker. Not only am I not a member of the Apple sect, but the last weeks I spent hours installing 8.1 (That is the latest version of Windows) on people's machines, as well as giving Apple an earful for the Itunes Backup glitches (deleting people's backups) or icloud sillyness. I only own an Apple smartohone as the most solid, best ecosystem built phone. My first smart was a Samsung Galaxy S3, which I returned after 5 hours when i found a camera issue and no customer support whatsoever from Samsung Canada.

Sorry I cant stop to chat as I am just on my way out!

But, just briefly in answer to your question... Bloody awful!

If these four words are your example of English, "narcississm or dissociative beahvior." Then I should go and get my money back from whoever taught you to spell, as 75% of them are spelt incorrectly.

From an English grammatical viewpoint of course!

Ta Ta...

Oct 30, 2013 4:33 AM in response to Disgruntled n Gone

That is what happends when answering on an iPhone people that merit no attention. Let us se one of my sentences "Another presumptuous thinker. Not only am I not a member of the Apple sect..."It is spelled correctly. Both vocabulary and grammar of course. Oh wait, you mispelled "can not" as "cant stop to chat," no apostrophe. The 75% you mentioned does not exist; excluding a few vocabulary typos caused by answering on the phone, I would say both are more than 95% correct. I also conclude that the difference between vocabulary and grammar is not known to you.

As a conclusion, my English is not only better, but so are my counting skills.

Regarding narcissism and db, it simply means that you like to be the center of attention and be proven right- all the time and when you are not, you flip- such as Apple being wrong in a situation they may not necessarily be. And DB means you simply like blaming others- such as Apple- for your problems in general. now these are bloody awful traits coming out from the construct of your sentences, content, first person use as well as outburst that left no room for doubt.

Apple cannot be blamed for your personal issues. Cease blaming Apple for the existence of the universe, or trying to poke with a tiny stick, it simply making me laugh harder. Your issues do not phase me mr 'cant'.

Oct 30, 2013 9:56 AM in response to Beisarius

Hey, hey, slow down there's no need to get angry! At least that's what I think you are doing - it's just so very hard to understand you as your English is appalling and after all, I was merely trying to give you some advice about getting your money back, had you paid for English lessons.

I picked those four words simply because they were consecutively placed within a sentence so it was straightforward to simply copy them directly from your post and paste them into my reply.

So here you go...now try to concentrate on this; "narcississm or dissociative beahvior". are the four words you typed, Yes?
Three of them are spelt incorrectly, so badly in fact that they barely resemble English words as I understand them. That leaves one word; the word "or", spelt correctly. So a simple math calculation on my part led me to point out to you that 75% of those words were spelt incorrectly. Okay, got it?

I probably would not have noticed to be honest but your style of writing, which comes across as that of someone wanting to, "Have a dig", at others through the anonymous medium of a text discussion, caught my attention and prompted me to respond.

You do appear to be an OK person though, so I will proffer a small piece of advice to help you if I may?

Get someone to read through your replies before you post them live for other to read my friend. In that way you can be reasonably sure you are not the only person who can understand just what it is you are on about? Unless of course they learnt English at the same place as you…in that case you’re stuck with just having to bumble through, hoping that others will be able to decipher what you type into an understanding of what you actually mean I’m afraid.

OK my friend, you can have that little one for nothing.

Cheers…

Hi,

I have a 2 years old iPhone 4S, carrier Vodafone NL. Battery drain was unbelievably fast after iOS update 7.0.2, I needed to charge my iPhone after 3 hours of usage (20 mins of moderate Internet usage). The only way to stop the battery drain for me is to turn off the 3G.

I have obviously no app background processing, no pushing emails, location services and notifications limited to only few apps. In this way, my battery goes from 100% to 80% in 8 hours. I'm good with that now.

I noticed also that the battery percentage with 3G activated is less reliable. The phone would shut down when the battery is around 40%. The 3G disabled, I can rely on that percentage.

Hope it can help you.

I have had this battery drain issue three times since the iOS7 update.

First time it happened, I applied solutions from different posts on "how to save you iDevices battery life". It always did help without solving the issue. The only way I found to solve the issue (and it did solve the issue for me three times) is to completely remove my email and iCloud accounts from my iPhone (yes, Outlook, Exchange, Google and iCloud emails, calendars, contacts and all were not on my iPhone anymore. But after a "reboot" of my iPhone by holding the power button and the close button for 6-7 seconds, the battery drain was gone! That worked three times since the iOS7 update.

I'll admit, I never have to do this before iOS7. Thus, there must be something wrong the is still not fixed in this iOS. Being a software developper myself, I can imagine that Apple is surely looking for a needle in a haystack with this one. This is not the kind of issue I would like to fix.

So, when the issue still happened last weekend, for a fourth time, I remembered reading somewhere that : "We should never do any App update using our 3g / 4g connections". At the time of reading this, it was obvious to me that there is so much more intersting things to do with my 3g connection than updating Apps. So I didn't pay too much attention to this article. But this last weekend, like Ben Franklin, I got struck by lightning and remember that EACH time I got the battery drain problem with my iPhone, I just did some Apps update with my 3g connection. Can it be the answer to the issue? I think this is a solid lead to finding an answer. So, I vow to myself to NEVER update Apps using 3g in the future. And I'm pretty sure the issue will never come back (until iOS8... I guess).

For reference, I have a year and a half iPhone 4s with iOS7 on it and battery last for more than 14 hours even when I write a 100 emails a day, I talk 40-45 minutes a day, I browse the web for a full hour and play a few minutes (less than an hour) of different games. I don't even count litening to music beacuse it does not seem to drain much of my battery when using headphones. The iPhone speakers is an other subject; it tends to drain my battery a bit more faster. So I don't see how it can get any better... can it cook for me? I didn't think so.

PS.: English being my second language, I hope you will not hold it against me for any misspelling or grammar issues. Thanks
