I am understanding of the fact that the volume of orders for the Iphone 5s (especially gold color) has been unprecedented. I can imagine that this has created difficulty for providing exact availbility dates or times for shipment. However, it is quite clear that a company of the scale represented by Apple can perform bettter regarding predicting ship date approximations than a thirty day window. The apparent refusal to do so is an insult to loyal customers and is not in line with the expectations usually seen with Apple in past performances. It seems quite logical that the approximate shipping dates could be narrowed to a seven day window at maximum.

For this reason it is causing due ire from customers that have ordered. Threats posted here suggesting they may cancel orders and go to a different manufacturer should be taken seriously, yet I see no postings from any Apple representative offering apology or an anticipated policy change. I do not intend to cancel, but it will certainly inform my opinion of Apple going forward.

yes!! I agree with @randazzle1 so therefore I am reposting, copying and pasting their post!! Cause I agree completely and maybe it'll get Apple's attention:

I also agree with randazzle. A company as large as Apple simply cannot afford to let their "October" customer's order's hang in limbo (along with their money) about shipping dates for such an unspecific amount of time. I ordered my iPhone 5s a few days after launch and i still havent heard anything about when it will ship. I'm now starting to toy around with the idea switch to Android, and i've been an Apple fanboy for years. I want to support you Apple, but this whole waiting game is ridiculous.

I ordered mine on September 21st. 2 iphone 5s gold 32GB and other accessories, i was expecting my order to be delivered in first week of october. This is really not fair! if apple do not have stock they should stop treating clients like beggers. It is now really frustrating. I had a flight on Oct 14th and i thought i'll be getting it before that. But it seems like i won't be able to get that on time. If these threads are responded by apple i request you to deliver it before that. For GOD sake apple sort out my problem.

I recently had correspondance with apple; useless, time wasting.

I though it might be interesting for some

Placed order on 1st of october.

EMAIL TO APPLE

Hi,

I would appreciate if you let me know the approximate dispatch date, for example middle of October or end of October… I do not mind getting the product in november or december.

It is only with apple, customers experience that kind of irresponsibility. "Dispatch in October" is written from September, since the launch, there's been enough time to be more specific by now.

Why don't you put: dispatch in 2013?

It is dishonest that apple deliberately provides ambiguous information to its customers.

Similar story at a store: "we receive deliveries everyday but we don't know what" - this is really shameful…, certainly you can justify all with excuses, but in reality it indicates on lack of communication and organisational management between departments within the company.

No need for apologies on behalf of the company unless you are personally responsible for this organisational flaw.

Please also direct this letter to the responsible department or let me know contact details.

Regards,

RESPONSE

I understand from your email that you would like to know when your order is estimated to deliver.

At present, your order is due to ship in October. However, there is no specific shipment date available at this time. As soon as your order ships, you will be updated via email with an estimated delivery date and tracking information.

Due to the high demand of the iPhone 5S, I regret that we are unable to expedite the delivery of your order.

Apple makes every effort to ship products in the order that they are purchased. We are working hard to fill every order as quickly as possible. You can track your order at the following web page: http://store.apple.com/uk/orderstatus

I hope this is of assistance and thank you for shopping with us.

Ordered on the 23rd of September and still not a word of advice or indication other than October. I'm sure Apple is not that short on stock and it's all just to get the hype going, which normally I wouldn't care as I would still be using my old phone until the new one arrives. The annoying thing this time is because I lost my phone a month ago now I have to wait another month to get a smart phone which I really need for when I'm travelling just because of Apple's marketing ploy. Not cool! Definitely even if they are really short on stock, which I highly doubt, they should still tell customers approximate date. It's terrible customer service from Apple, mobile carriers can actually give a better approximate dates than them.
