Ipod touch disabled says try again in "22,885,750 minutes. Can't Power down

My daughters 4th gen Ipod touch is showing "iPod is disabled try again in 22,885,746 minutes. I have tried to power it down but the screen goes blank and now power down slider. When I try to connect to Itunes I get a message that iTines cannot connect to the device because it is protected by a password. I can't get to a password screen on the iPod touch only the disabled screen shows and It will not reset when I press the power and home buttons either.

Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help


You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
