I apologize for any confusion I may have caused Apfelwurm. I only have one ID (this one)...

My Einstein quote was in response to your statement: "If you constantly did a restore from the same backup without success, you could have tried a different backup, should you have some spare backups."

Regarding your question "Anyway, what do you expect of me?" I have no expectation of you. I agree that the issue isn't with iOS7 since there are only a "few" of us having the problem.

I agree that if the problem was universal, Apple would fix it. I also agree with you and Fromsouth that the solution is to wipe the device clean and start over. The good news is that the purchased applications can be reinstalled from the store, and the iTunes files, Kindle books, iBooks, etc. can all be reloaded. It just takes some time.

Well folks I finally figured it out. It was a four part solution. I did a rest on all settings. That allowed me to open up Safari, but it ran very slowly.I found it kept trying to load up my.yahoo.com. I was able to filling delete that page. Then I discovered that my bookmarks were multiplied many fold. I needed to choose a different folder to display on the opening page. I then deleted several bookmarks. Now it is running like it did when I first installed iOS7, which is great!

Yes, but when I tried to apply the same solution to my iPad I discovered why they both had a problem. They were hooked together with iCloud. I turned off Safari talking to iCloud and erased all of the bookmarks. Immediately Safari started working again. I also noticed that my iPhone Safari was bogging down again. It was replicating the iPad! I will now clean up the iPhone and then turn on the iCloud sharing again on the iPad.

So then the key to fixing my issue was that for some reason there were 7700 bookmarks in the cloud. They were being copied into my devices and bogging them down. I turned off the Safari iCloud and then changed from IE to Safari as my browser to synch to on iTunes. I then cleaned up the book marks on Safari then synched them to each device. After doing that to make them exactly the same I turned the iCloud Safari back on. I have all of my book marks back on my iPad and no more issues with Safari.

It was so helpful to see so many other people having trouble with Safari since this last IOS update. I did all the recommended tasks and nothing worked....until I read someone's post about turning off the iCloud setting on Safari. As soon as I did that, Safari opened up for me. I hope this posting can help someone else. Thank you, everyone!
