You can not delete an Apple ID. It is asking for the password because you have an app on the devices trying to update that has been purchased on the old Apple ID. Purchases are permanently linked to the Apple iD that they were made on. To resolve this you need to delete the app and download/repurchase it with your current Apple ID.

You can reset an account's password via http://iforgot.apple.com
Or, and if you were the original purchaser of the device (i.e. it wasn’t bought used), you could try going to an Apple
Store (make a Genius Bar appointment if you do) or try contacting iTunes Support online (https://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html) and see if they can remove the device from the account - they are likely to want to see proof of ownership before they might help e.g. original receipt with the serial number on it
If it’s on the activation lock screen contact the previous owner, nobody else can potentially help you.
I created a whole new Apple ID. I sign out from iTunes and I can even see my new Apple ID set as Apple ID. But yes, I'm still getting the pop up asking me the password for the old Apple ID when I'm trying to make updates for my apps :(
or wait 90 days and then u can update them with ur new Apple ID. I had to that after I got divorced and got my own Apple ID for the first time. If u delete and re download, you will lose all your progress and content. ie) games or long term tracking apps, etc
If this is on an iOS device look at the accounts purchase histories, hopefully each item will only be on one of them. If you have them in your computer’s iTunes library you can do ‘get-info’ on them, that will tell you owning id.
How do I link my new apple ID to my Ipad? Since I can't delete the old one, each time I try to make a purchase in the app store the sign in already has my old ID and I can't get rid of it.
If you don’t want to use an account anymore delete personal info from it (e.g. paymemt details), cancel, any subscriptions and pre-orders on it, and stop using it.
From computer: Go to the iTunes Store and sign in with your old Apple ID, click Purchased in the Quick Links section the click Apps.
From iPad: Sign into the App store with the old Apple ID (Settings > App Store). Open the App store app > Purchased
From iPhone: Sign into the App store with the old Apple ID (Settings > App Store). Open the App store spp > Updates > Purchased
You can view an account's purchase history : See your purchase history in the iTunes Store on a Mac or PC - Apple Support
Or if the apps are in the My Apps section of your computer's iTunes library you can select/highlight an app and do 'get-info' (command-I on a Mac ; control-I on a PC), and the File tab on the popup will show the 'purchased by' id.
I changed my Apple ID and iTunes payment but the old account I want to change on iCloud but can't because I have to log out of it but don't have a password or Key to do it. This has been going on over a month after going to Apple Store Genius Bar plus multiple reps over the phone with Apple.

Hi, Axeman1020. Thank you for your answer. How do I know which apps/songs exactly have been purchased with my old apple ID so that I can delete them? I don't even know my old apple id sign in details anymore, yet apple keeps asking me for my password for it.
The apps that are updating were purchased with your old Apple ID.
iTunes purchaes are permanently linked to the Apple ID that made them.
Is your old ID still valid? Will it still take your password?
If not, you will need to delete these apps and redownload/purchase these apps with your new Apple ID.
Accounts can't be deleted, all you can do is remove any personal info from them (e.g. Change or remove your Apple ID payment information - Apple Support) and stop using them - anything that you downloaded on the account will remain tied to it
If it's an AOL username account : AOL Usernames can no longer be used with the iTunes Store - Apple Support
If it's not, you could go through your existing account's purchase history to see which apps are linked to it, and delete the apps that aren't (assuming that you only downloaded each app on one account)
