iPhone 5 does not ring for incoming calls post iOS 7 update.

... and the point of even HAVING that switch in the first place is... ?
It's ludicrous given all the controls within the settings menus.

Thank you so much. I just couldn't figure out why my phone rang when I rang my phone from my land line but it did not ring when a stranger called me. It was driving me mad. Really grateful for your post.

You've obviously never been in a business meeting. When you realize you didn't silence your phone before the meeting and it's suddenly interrupting what the CEO is trying to say, I'd prefer a switch I can quickly flip than trying to navigate through some menus to shut it up.

The No Ring issue looks silly. If you're here it is not that silly. Try to push UP the first button on the left of your phone until the ORAGE color is covered.

I know it does not look like a button BUT It is. althoug it does nothing when you 'press on it", right? .

The reason is that you have to push it UP.

I missed a number of important calls over the last few weeks because of this. I don't recall ever turning on "Do not Disturb" mode, and wonder whether it might have been turned on by an iOS update?

Yes. FWIW, I've never purposefully turned on "Do not disturb" mode. I suspect what happened is that I turned it on accidentally when trying to turn on the orientation lock, which I use often. Now I know to be careful.

Yes! Never knew that's what the crescent-moon symbol was, but don't recall having turned it on. I suppose it will now ring from all those unwelcome calls I used to not get.

I had two problems: set to Favorites instead of All and the bell icon. However you should say ' turn off assistive touch once more' not ' turn off accessibility once more'.

Wow thank you! Whoever you are you are such a life saver. I recently had an iPhone4s and this was happening to my phone. But then I bought a 5 because I thought the phone was old and outdated. But the same thing started happening on my new iPhone 5, so I figured iPhones were just crap. But after seeing your post I did that and it started working. Also I went back to check the settings on my old iPhone4s and "Do not disturb" was activated on my old phone too! I wish I could have seen your post sooner I might still be using my old iPhone... But it was time for a new one anyway. But thank you so much I really appreciate, you are awesome!

How did this get changed to "favorites" only?

Was just about to take it to the repair shop after trying out all other obvious things...but then spotted this and it worked...cheers

I am on iOS 9.3, but the update must change to "Favorites". This post led me to find that and change it to "Everyone." Thanks. I had been having this issue for some time. From now on, after an update, I will check the "Do Not Disturb" setting. I recommend everyone do this.
