Its the OCD in me, but i notice these things.
When i shake my 5S, i can hear a little rattle noise. IF i push down on the power button and shake the phone it doesnt rattle.
does this happen to you good folks?
The power button you press with your finger, hovers in place over an internal button. The power button is loose so it can move down when you press, the slight space allows minute movement when you shake it. This is present in all iPhones made to date.
You know... I was driving myself to distraction over this!
2 replacements later and insection of over 30 phones and they all have the rattle.
I found one that didn't.... however, once clicked the irattle started, lol
Weird thing is that my wife has an iPhone 5 (white) and her power button does not rattle :S
Ya same with my 5/4S/3 and my siblings 5s, it doesn't do it. Brad just assumed that it's on all the iPhones for some apparent reason but it isn't. lol..
I had an iphone 5 32gb black and the phone was solid no rattle and good construction. I get an iphone 5s 32gb black and the construction of it is not good. The off button rattles and my screen is loose on the top corner
My question is does anyone have a iPhone 5s with a sleep/power button that doesn't rattle? If you do what model did you get?
No I have a Silver 5s and it rattles
Local Apple Shop told me it was fine, which is not the answer I wanted after buying a quality product none of my other Iphones have had a rattle

The 5s has a new power button assembly so you cannot compare it with the iPhone 5 or before. Do some research people. the teardown of the iPhone 5s described this.
I talked to the apple store, they said it should not happen to any device, but it appears to happen on all and marked it in their notes. The store manager said he would make sure his boss knew about this issue. Also there is no need to be rude, some people are not very tech savy. Including myself.
Apple needs to be aware of this defect in their device.
Yes. I have the gold 16gb iphone 5S. The first thing I noticed out of the box was the loose power button. It works perfectly and it does not interfere with any function but it is odd. My old iphone 5 which was black and purchased on release day had no rattle or loose power button. I went to the apple store yesterday, because I wanted to get peace of mind. It turns out that all the display models had loose power buttons like mine. I asked the apple employee that assisted me and he said that unfortunately it is a design flaw and that if all the models in stock had loose power buttons, there wasn't much he could do about it. A cousin of mine recently purchased the previous iphone 5 in white. Her iphone is brand new and it has the same loose power button like mine. I think the problem is Apple's manufacturer. I know this isn't normal because my old iphone 5 is solid with no rattles.
I went to the Apple store yesterday to look at the iphone 5s on display. I tested 3 of them. 2 out 3 had the power button rattle issue.
So now the issue is, even if you can get a replacement from the genius bar, it will most likely have the same issue. Or non issue as Apple puts it.
I have buy one with this problem. Then replease on another... And he also shake that power button. 😀 Thank you Apple!
I am sorry Brad805. You are wrong. This issue started with the iPhone 5 and has become worse with the iPhone 5S.
It is not normal to have this rattling sound in the recorded video. The problem is, well, for me it seems like that, that the power button is near the second mic at the camera. So if the button has too much space so that it rattles, I guess the mic is recording that sound.
