Reminders not working at all in ios 7.

Every time i open the reminders app since i updated to ios 7,nothing responds. It shows new list and a + next to it in the middle of the screen. It isnt responsive at all.The search works but there is nothing to search for because its not letting me create any reminders. The alarm part shows what i have scheduled, which is nothing, because im not able to schedule anything. I tried using siri but it just says "Sorry i wasnt able to create that reminder."Does anyone know how i can fix this?

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Well WHO would think to go to iCloud to enable Reminders? Not me. But I was just trying everything. I think one of the replies here may have helped.

Went to Settings, iCloud. There, a list of things will appear with an on/off switch to the right of each. Reminders wasn't green. I turned it on and instantly, reminders was enabled.

Happy. I don't want to miss a particular eBay bid tomorrow at noon. Now, the chances are reduced.

Nothing mentioned here worked for my wife's iphone4s.

She even did the reset all settings thing, which created a bit of calamity because then Siri and Siri location services were lost. After bring back Siri, I went to work.

What I noticed was when I went to Settings -> iCloud and turned off Reminders, the Reminders app worked again.

When I turned Reminders on again in iCloud, it stopped.

So, for kicks I logged into her iCloud.com account. Her settings were all there. All 167 of them!!!!!

Therein lies the problem. She was marking reminders as completed, but not deleting them. I don't think iCloud.com, even in an era were terabytes cost pennies, can handle 167 reminders.

So, this was what we did:

  • Went back to the iPhone, Settings->iCloud and turned off Reminders
  • Went to the reminders app, and entered the two (!!!!) reminders she had not set completed
  • Went back to iCloud.com and created a second reminders list (this is needed for the next step, because iCloud.com requires a minimum of one)
  • Deleted the Reminders list from iCloud.com
  • Went back to the iPhone, Settings->iCloud and turned Reminders back on
  • Went to the Reminders app, and saw a pleasing message that said her Reminders would be merged with iCloud
  • Went back to iCloud.com, refreshed the Reminders page, and in a few seconds, the two reminders she entered on the phone showed up.
  • Deleted the second list reminders list from iCloud.com
  • Went back to the iPhone and verified that the reminders app still worked.
  • Taught her how to delete reminders when done.

Hope this helps someone else.

The same thing happened to me with a new iPhone 6. Reminders just did not work. No default list, no abaility to add a list, etc.

Following this thread, I went to Settings > iCloud and turned on Reminders, and suddenly the default Reminders list appeared, and things started to work.

Is it always non-functional if you don't start with iCloud syncing on?

Not sure if you've figured this out, but I finally solved this problem in a way different than the recommendations here -- none of those worked for me. I basically had to make sure that the Settings --> Reminders --> Default List was set to 'icloud.' Then, in reminders, I had to make sure that the list to which I was inputting reminders was also 'icloud' (there were three options for me: my name, an unlinked 'reminders' list, and 'reminders, icloud'). (To see what lists you have, select 'reminders' or your name at the top and it should drop down your choices.) This solved the problem. I don't know if it HAS to be icloud or if the default in settings just has to match the list into which you're inputting reminders. Best of luck!
