Can somebody help me analyze my slow Mac

I have this info but not sure what to do with it. My mac is painfully slow. Switching between programs lags- and the beach ball swirls around. The cursor lags. Everything is so slow. Can somebody help with this info I've provided? Thanks

If the issue persists following the uninstallation of Vodaphone's software, you need more RAM (in all likelihood, you need more RAM anyway). Download this program, run it, and post the output: Etresoft: EtreCheck

You already tried to uninstall it the wrong way, by deleting an application.

Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.

Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, as in this case, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.

Here are some general guidelines. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickYourMac.” First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickyourmac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickYourMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickYourMac.” If not, open “BrickYourMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.

You may have to log out or reboot in order to complete an uninstallation.

If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase your boot volume and perform a clean reinstallation of OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.

Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" that purport to remove software.

OMG- who knew? Thanks so much Linc. I will have to figure this out. I have no idea why I installed this- in looking it up it was likely to do a call wtih someone in Europe. Likely they told me to get this software. I'll have to take this to someone if it becomes more complicated. I'm afraid to do this as I don't really understand what I'm doing when it comes to the OS.

Thanks!!

If the version that is corrupted isn't the latest, will installing the latest uninstall the corrupt version?

I don't know. If it doesn't, and if you can't find out how to install the software any other way, you'll have to go the clean-install route. That might be the best choice anyway, if you've been in the habit of installing such things and then forgetting about them.

That statement is 100% incorrect. Apple provides developers with several options to install software, and choosing to select a "package" by no means indicates the developer is making system modifications, it simply means that's the option the developer selected to use. Nothing more, nothing less. This can only be confirmed by contacting the company that developed the software. That comment is 100% erroneous. You shouldn't be making vast generalizations like that.

You have two choices. Either do some research, as I suggested earlier, to find out how to uninstall the system modification, or do a clean reinstallation, as follows. Since your system seems to be quite heavily modified in other ways, I think this is the better approach.

Back up all data to at least two different storage devices.

Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and erase the startup volume. This operation will destroy all data on the volume, so you had be better be sure of your backups. Quit Disk Utility and install OS X. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.

When you reboot, the Setup Assistant will launch to take you through the initial setup process. Follow the prompt to transfer the data from one of your backups. Don't transfer the Guest account, if it was enabled on the old system.

If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it.
