I have hairline cracks on the outside casing of my iBook in a few places…

My iBook, (I have had it for a little over a half a year now) has small hairline crakcs in a two places on the outside caseing. Right below the apple/command key, and on the front left corner. The laptop rarely leaves my desk, and when it does I carry it in a padded case. I am wondering if anyone else has every experenced this problem, and if so what they did about it/ and or, if it's serous and something I should look into getting fixed, if it is even fixable. The cracks do not seem to affect the structural stability of the computer, but it's hard to tell. All help and suggestions are gladly welcomed.

Well, unless the cracks get bigger, and start posing a problem to the structural integrity of the computer then I think I'll just leave them, though if there is a problem then I will most likely fix it myself, as I don't really have a qualms about working on things, And if i do decide to pull it apart and try to glue it back together I may be back asking you how to pull the thing apart, and what glue would be best, etc, etc…

I'm not usually of the alarmist mentality;
unless the ship is really sinking... In a
few cases, it does help to have a plan
when it makes a difference.

I'd think that once the warranty is gone
and if you decide to upgrade the HDD
or other components yourself, to have
the service manual in PDF saved aside
for that, on another computer to view it,
would be one of the better first-tools.

At least that part of it may still apply
in a few years; technology moves on,
so it is good to archive some stuff for
later on. For out-of-warranty 'Books,
I found wegenermedia in SC to be of
good value; labor on a inverter cable
assemblly in white iBookG3 was $50.
and the part was also good. I could
have had more done, for the cost of
the parts; once they were into it...! 🙂
