Help Setting Up Toggle Recording Using A Foot Pedal

I have a very old korg wavestation keyboard.

I was able to go into the function: toggle recording - and put that into learn MIDI - and then I hit the sustain pedal.

- Now - I am able to toggle recording on and off by hitting the sustain pedal on my wavestation keyboard.

- I would prefer to use one of the 2 pedal inputs 1 or 2 that can be set to things like - mod pedal or effects switch ( two things I won't really need) - and use a momentary switch foot pedal (I forget exactly what they should be called) ... and hopefully use this other foot pedal trigger the record toggle... the problem as I can't seem to get it to work - when I choose " learn MIDI " nothing comes in...

*Question: does anyone know how to set up this secondary foot pedal to trigger the record toggle?
