iOS 7 and Facetime dialing (multiple numbers for one contact)

With iOS 6, I was able to select which number to Facetime for a specific Contact.

Now, with iOS 7, I can't select this at all. It defaults to the first number I have saved in this contact (which is their work number and not a Facetime associated number at all!)

I even tried the following: Open up Facetime app --> Contacts --> tap on the number to dial (proper Facetime number) --> it insteads dials their number using my phone, and not Facetime. I tried the same steps, but tapped on the users email instead (also associated with their Facetime id). Instead of Facetiming their email address, it opens up the email app!! What's the deal?? Why is it so difficult to choose which number/email to Facetime?

This has to be some sort of BUG. The only work around I can find is adding a second contact with ONLY their Facetime number. There has to be a solution to this.

Is anyone else running into this problem?

Another work around, instead of creating a separate contact...if you initiate an iMessage text to the iDevice you wish to ultimately facetime (for example, send a text to your spouse's iPad via iMessage). Once you have that thread started, now select 'Contact', you'll have the option to facetime that particular device. It's not the best fix, but at least you don't have to create a new contact for every person that has multiple iDevices.

Nice try but this isn't a work around.

This is just what you do to FaceTime a particular contact.

The real problem that we are trying to solve is when one contact has two or more FaceTime addresses i.e one for the iphone and one for the ipad (mobile no. & email address).

IOS 6 allowed this to happen.

IOS 7 obviously had a small child with crayons draw up the designs for the FaceTime part of this software.

No this does not work. There is no work around apart of making separated contacts. Which means if your contact has 2 iphones and 1 ipad you have to have 3 contacts so you can facetime everytime correctly. I won't do that. IOS 6 works fine. Im pretty sure apple either is not aware of this either they are resisting to change it as they want to have "one click" calling style which apparently does not work the way they want but yeh who cares for the customers...

I have the same problem. I found a workaround - it's not ideal and won't allow one to pick one of multiple FaceTime numbers but it works.

I opened a contact and Edited the details. Deleted any phone number that appeared before the number I want to use for FaceTime and added it back as a new number, this making the FaceTime number the first in the list.

This way, starting FaceTime uses the correct number.

Another work around is to add URL entries for the contact and use the FaceTime URL scheme https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/featuredarticles/iPhoneURLScheme_Referen ce/FacetimeLinks/FacetimeLinks.html

Eg. If the user's number is 1234567, add facetime://1234567 as a URL for the contact then select a custom label e.g. FaceTime iPhone. Then if the iPad email is ipad@icloud.com, add facetime://ipad@icloud.com as another URL entry then label it FaceTime iPad.

FIX THE PROBLEM APPLE! I can't believe this. I just upgraded from iOS 5 where everything was working fine. Now I use facetime for the first time on a 5S and I actually get a wrong number and because of this, worries and anxieties that something was wrong with the person I called, when in fact it was A ()*&)(*&&) PH....CK UP by Apple. NOT SURPRISED anymore. I now expect these unprecedented things to happen.
