iOS 7 and Bluetooth keyboard issues

After upgrading to iOS 7 on an iPad 2, my Logitech ultrathin keyboard will no longer type alphanumerics into my school's secure WiFi login/password network page (but does function properly in other applications/pages). Every single key seems not to function on the WiFi login page (only) except for the upper left hand "home" button, which allows you to toggle away from the login page. In order to login to secure WiFi, I must turn off Bluetooth to disable the Logitech keyboard and bring up the iPad on-screen keyboard, login to the secure WiFi, then turn on the Bluetooth again in order to gain use of the Logitech keyboard. And I must repeat this process regularly because the secure WiFi times out after several minutes of inactivity. This problem did not exist with iOS 6. Very inconvenient. Please help.

I also found that LadyLuck1111's solution works.

Again, on the Belkin Keyboard, there is a "Pair" Function Key (<>) that must be manually invoked using the (Fn) Function Key. When in doubt, read the **** product manual — and/or (in this case) Belkin's Tech Support documents. That said, Belkin's own Tech Support staff didn't even think to suggest this — they just shipped us a replacement Ultimate Keyboard and issued a return RMA for the original.

Apple Tech Support did suggest trying this. The Apple Tech I spoke with thinks that Belkin probably needs to issue a frimware update for the keyboard that restores the automatic pairing functionality with iOS 7.0.4. I don't know which version of iOS 7 broke this compatibility — but I think automated Bluetooth pairing MAY HAVE worked properly through iOS 7.0.2.

I also have a Belkin ultimate keyboard, and I have found that it causes a problem when streaming through the Netflix app to a Google Chromecast. As long as the keyboard is OFF, the connection to the Chromecast stays up. When the keyboard is ON, the iPad eventually will lose track of the Chromecast, and I have to do the following to re-establish control of the Chromecast:

1. kill the Netflix process.

2. turn off wifi.

3. turn on wifi and reconnect to the network the Chromecast is on.

4. restart the Netflix process.

That works every time, but it is a PITA.

I discovered that the Belkin is on all the time when the iPad is sitting up. It does not turn off after a timeout, and the battery is drained in about the same time as the iPad's (not the 3 months that Belkin brags about). So I started using the iPad more without the keyboard turned on, and that's when I found out the Chromecast connection stayed up.

The obvious lesson is, Bluetooth and wifi do not play nicely together in IOS 7.0.4. This needs a fix from

Apple.

--> 1. press i-button 2. ignore Logitech... 3. turn keyboard on 4. press bluetooth key 5. activate bluetooth in ipad-settings 6. mark keyboard when shown in device list

I was going crazy with the same problem; my iPad Air was saying NOT PAIRED and the beachball was spinning. My husband tried his hand at it - same situation, then he hit the NOT PAIRED and the magic number came up. I entered it and am typing on my keyboard now, That's the key - you have to hit the NOT PAIRED symbol. I guess Apple thins we are mind-readers now! I hope this helps others.

I'm typing with my Apple Wireless Keyboard as we speak paired with my iPad Air. All's you do is press and hold the power button on the keyboard until it recognizes it. Even when it gives the not paired message and says pairing failed, you just close that out and then click on it again. The pairing code should appear the second time. :) *Note: It seems as if you must power your keyboard and hold the power button down first, and then turn your bluetooth on on your iPad Air while keeping your power button depressed.

Either my iPad or my Logitech keyboard keeps forgetting the pairing. There a lots of suggestions for restoring the pairing and they work. However, these seem to be just temporary solutions. After restoring the pairing, it forgets again one or two days later. That is unacceptable. I'm looking for a permanent solution. Alternatively, I would like to know if there is no permanent solution. If there is no permanent solution, I'm going to return this keyboard to the Apple store.

One more solution if all others above-mentioned haven't helped you out:

Holding either of these key combinations for more than five (5) seconds will clear the memory slot and you will have to pair the keyboard again with a device.

Fn + 1 (Blue)

Fn + 2 (Purple)

I suppose this enables Belkin to well 'forget' you device and re-connect it.
