iOS 7 and Bluetooth keyboard issues

After upgrading to iOS 7 on an iPad 2, my Logitech ultrathin keyboard will no longer type alphanumerics into my school's secure WiFi login/password network page (but does function properly in other applications/pages). Every single key seems not to function on the WiFi login page (only) except for the upper left hand "home" button, which allows you to toggle away from the login page. In order to login to secure WiFi, I must turn off Bluetooth to disable the Logitech keyboard and bring up the iPad on-screen keyboard, login to the secure WiFi, then turn on the Bluetooth again in order to gain use of the Logitech keyboard. And I must repeat this process regularly because the secure WiFi times out after several minutes of inactivity. This problem did not exist with iOS 6. Very inconvenient. Please help.

I have had a keyboard problem with a just-purchased Belkin ultimate keyboard case - some keys worked -- e.g. the function keys worked and there is a separate Siri key and that worked -- but the lettered keys did not work. This did not happen when I first used it two days ago. I tried upairing several times as suggested in one of the posts, but that did not fix it. I finally got through to Belkin support and they had me do the following:

- unpair the device (Settings app)

- turn off Bluetooth (Bluetooth section in settings)

- completely turn off the iPad (hold down both the home button and the sleep button)

When I reversed the process, all the keys now worked. And I tried the keys in several programs because of the posting about the Belkin keyboard not working to type in all programs.

I was told that Belkin is reporting issues with this keyboard and OS 7. They are in the process of updating, and this process apparently resulted in updating. So, the steps above are worth trying if you are having difficulty.

I was having the same problem. My Belkin ultimate external keyboard did not work with Notes after I upgraded to IOS 7.0.2. I went to settings. I turned on Bluetooth. I re-paired the device by hitting <...> pair on the belkin keyboard with the Fn key. The iPad said "Connected" and now the keyboard is working with notes.

There's a distinct possibility that iOS 7.0.3 has fixed this issue.

I have just installed it and tested a few of the 'funnies'I had before with my Logitech ultraslim keyboard, and this now seem corrected.

One issue was having to select a number (any number) on screen after I typed in my passcode c=lock number from the keyboard, to get the iPad to recognise I had entered all the required numbers. No need to do this now, the passcode is accepted from the keyboard, and the iPad unlocks without further input.

A second issue was that the up and down keys would not work within the description fields of Trello cards. The arrow keys now work as expected in the description field.

All good so far.

This happened with my ZAGGkeys profolio. I did as you said and deleted its profile in bluetooth. Switched it off and then made it disocverable again. It worked. Thank you. What on earth is Apple up to? Evrything used to run seamlessly and now it seems I am always updating my software and fixing bugs in the new versions. I switched to a Mac years ago to avoid all Microsoft's nonsense. Rant. Rant. Thank you eefbee!

Simon, I had the same issue & found a solution online, although I don't have the link handy. Basically you need to hold down the power button on the keyboard throughout the entire process of syncing with the iPAd. Keep it pressed until you see that the keyboard is actually synced to the device. This solved my problem.

Hello all, my problem is even weird. The backspace and space button don't work properly in many situation. When I key-in space after typing a word, it has no effect. I had to do this in order to add a space :

1) press backspace once. No effect

2) press backspace 2nd time . One character removed

3) insert a space

This issue happened after iPad got upgraded to 7.0.3. I tried to pair up my Logitech keyboard with my iPhone which is on 7.0.2. It works too. I am so annoyed now. Anyone get the same issue?

I was having the same issue with my Apple bluetooth keyboard and iPad mini.

After reading many of the posts this is what finally worked.

-I deleted the keyboard from the bluetooth list.

-Restarted iPad mini by pressing home and power key together till white apple logo appeared

-Went back to bluetooth settings, and turned bluetooth on

-I kept pressing the power button on the keyboard to keep the green light on as much as possible. Sometimes the ipad would see it, sometimes it would not. Several times it would see it, but when I would press on it on the bluetooth list in the settings, I would get a message that it is not paired, but would not give me a pairing code to do the pairing. After repeating this for several minutes, FINALLY i was given a pairing code and it is now working!

It was very frustrating, but I want to thank all who posted here. Your ideas and successes kept me working at it until I too had bluetooth connection success as well.

I agree, this should NOT be so much work!

Having an issue with my belkin ultimate keyboard not being found by my iPad 4th gen, with iOS7, it was fine with iOS6.x but every since I update to 7 is not finding it at all.

I have restore my iPad twice, and my keyboard has been fully charged for over 4 hours,

Is this an iOS issue or is it something belkin should fix with their hardware or software (drivers) or something else?

Any ideas?

Again my iPad does not find the keyboard, it finds any other Bluetooth device fine but not my belkin ultimate keyboard,

Thanks for the help,

I am seeing the exact same issue as the original poster, except I have an iPad Air, and an Apple bluetooth keyboard. The keyboard pairs and works just fine in most applications, but for a few, it refuses to work properly. When I atempt to connect to the "guest wifi" network at work, it pops up a login window, and the bluetooth keyboard will not work in that window, I am forced to turn the keyboard off and use the on-screen keyboard. Once connected, I can turn the bluetooth keyboard back on and use it t type emails, type in pages & numbers, even enter my password to unlock the iPad, I just can enter the wifi username or password. I have also noticed that it does exactly the same thing if I try to go into the Cellular properties in the Settings and check my account. It pops-up a login window there and I can't use the bluetooth keyboard there either. It is very annoying that only for these pop-upauthentication windows I am forced to turn the bluetooth keyboard off and manually use the on-screen keyboard to login. Once the login window is closed, the keyboard works properly.

One time I thought I could see the keyboard sending the letters I was typing to the windows under teh login pop-up windows, but I haven't been able to verify this a second time. I suspect this is an iOS issue where the bluetooth keyboard focus is not moved to the pop-up window even though it should be.

I don't know if you're still having a problem with your Belkin keyboard, but if you are, this might help: http://www.belkin.com/us/support-article?articleNum=8222

To make your keyboard discoverable, you'll need to hit the function and pair keys at the same time. The function key is in the bottom left and the pair key is at the top right by the delete key. Once you do this, it should be discoverable.

Hope this helps,

A
