Yes, I know that. But, as I think iOS 7 is one of the best things Apple has done in years, that's ok.
Best of luck.
Researching every detail before upgrading is not a helpful or realistic suggestion.
Since you offer help, tell us how to restore the capacity to view our photo collections using the Places view which puts them on a world map with map pins.
The current map view is limited to single years, moments, events, etc., but ios6 allowed viewing of all images on a map.
Thanks in advance.
Do you research everything about a new house you buy? A new car you buy? What about work, would you blindly do something without a concern of the consequences? A Smartphone is the same gear; research helps, if you care that much, do your research I barely cared about my iphone and I STILL was informed enough to make my own decision.
Research may or may not have revealed that the Places view would be removed.
It matters not, the problem remains.
Apple has taken away the Places view option from how we sort through Photos.
If you have any suggestions for curing this problem, we will appreciate it.
Well... After a few days of using iOS 7 against my will... I stumbled upon the new alarm features. The new alarms and sounds are much better and I can even wake up to my own music now (finally lol) I must admit... It's starting to grow on me :)
The issue is not the supposed slowness of iPhone 4/4S per se, but the fact that those phones have only 256 MB of RAM, which makes every other application to completely reload and restart itself if you switch from it to somewhere else. This happens because iOS 7 requires much more memory than iOS 6, and hence there is fewer memory for applications, and the OS has to kill applications much sooner than it had to back when there was more free RAM available in the old OS.
As result, every other application has to be restart/reloaded, and it takes time every time. For example, in iOS 7, Skype and Twitter apps can not survive you stitching from them to each other or anthing else, they will always go to full rebook/sign-in.
The only thing Apple could do for its iPhone 4/4S users to make their lives more comfortable, is to somehow unload some part of iOS from RAM, to make physically available memory space in RAM not less than it was in with iOS 6.
Unfortunately, it would be very hard to do for Apple, and I do not see that they even will try to do it. Now their main phones are iPhone 5s/5c/5, all of which have 1 GB RAM. Of couse, they also suffer from more frequent app-restarts because of lower free memory, but the issue insignificant comparing to iPhone 4/4s, where litterally almost every swich from app to something else causes OS to kill it due to low free memory.
Both the iPhone 4 and 4s have 512MB RAM, not 256MB. The original iPad had 256MB as does the 4th Gen iPod touch, that's why they don't support anything later than iOS 5.1.1/6.1.x.
iOS 7 doesn't take that much more RAM than 6, that's not the major issue. It's more about CPU/GPU power and the A4 in the iPhone 4 is at the bottom end of what iOS 7 requires (the 4s is better off with an A5 that about 2X times faster, e.g. I'm runng iOS 7 on a 4s with no issues at all, it runs fine), but even so the performance of iOS 7 on an iPhone 4 should be quite acceptable if it's configured correctly.
Many many people are using iOS 7 quite happily on an iPhone 4, that's why Apple is still selling the 4.
Thank you. I regret that I've failed to express the original complaint that I have which is that ios7 doesn't offer the ability to sort pictures by "Places", and searches for solutions didn't yield anything short of downgrading to ios6.
I'm not sure that I want to do that, in the end, even if I could.
All I want is my Places view back for photos, and not in the current state that only allows one year at a time to be viewed.
Thanks!
Places is still there in Photos, it's just been reorganised and improved (in my opinion). Yes, you can now only view photos by place per year, but so what? At least now it's much more precise about exactly where the photos were taken and I find it much more useful than the old places implementation.
If you want to let Apple know what you'd like changed then by all means forward your thoughts to them here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/
I really just want to see all years on one map and not have to toggle across different years to find that photo in DC or Oahu, where I visit every year. Is that so hard?
Is there some hardware or software rule that prevents us from having a CHOICE? A simple toggle, old view or new view? Or three different views, or more?
You know, Apple can add one feature without removing the earlier one.
Do you see what I'm saying? Can't we have BOTH?
Thanks.
