I can't send from my icloud email via Outlook 2011. Get Authentication error?

I can send from my iphone, ipad and on icloud.com, but not Outlook. Was working one day and not the next. I have tried changing my icloud password but to no avail, and have double checked my settings with Apple support and Microsoft Support. Receives just fine, but a few seconds after i hit send i get

5.7.8 Bad username or password (Authentication failed)..

Any advice greatly appreciated.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4), Outlook 2011 v14.3.7

Update - still can't send via Outlook 2011.

I have deleted the orginal account and added another one - didn't work

changed the apple id Password - didn't work

Does anyone have any ideas?

Update - I now have it working.

am not really sure what exactly fixed it.

I changed a lot of things but my setup now has the following which I think fixed.

outgoing server - p06-smtp.mail.me.com

override default port checked - port now 587

on more options button changed it to "use incoming server info".

Glad to see it is now working for you. I had a similar problem just recently and noticed my "Use SSL boxes weren't ticked. After I ticked them all was OK........
