iCloud photo stream does not show all photos

I have 1000 photos is my photo stream, however on my Apple TV I just setup, I can only get 322 to show up in the iCloud Photo Stream. I've tried restoring and setting it up again, but I have the exact same numbers of photos.

Is there a reason I can only see 322 out of 1000 photos in my photo stream on the Apple TV?

I have the same disappointment, after following my proceedure I was getting new new photos to show up, but they never all showed up. And now its even worse the photo stream on the apple TV simply does not update at all. I find this so disapointing and can't imagine with the holiday season and all the folks wanting to use this feature and not being able to would be a real disappointment. I just hope that the next update actually mentions a fix for this.

I have now logged out of iCloud on Apple TV. I switched off both options as well.

Updated Apple TV to latest version.

Then logged back in to iCloud on Apple TV.

Switched on both features.

I now have up to date photos (I have not tested how long it takes but it was within a few hours).

Photo stream on iphone is 1,000 but it's less on Apple TV.

What a pain and so hard to work out what it's supposed to do apart from work - which it almost does out oft he box.

You must stream your photos from iTunes to your AppleTV.

Synch your all 1000 photos to a computer with iTunes.

1. Log into Itunes

2. Turn on Home Sharing (File>>Homesharing>>Choose Photos to share with Apple TV)

3. Select folder on your computer with 1,000 photos

4. Go to your AppleTV, select iCloud Photos, Select computer, select iTunes Libary with 1000 photos

5. Select a Slideshow, Select your music, and begin your slide show

Same issue with me. I have a number of shared photo albums in iCloud that sync fine with iPhone and iPad, but are only partially downloaded on Apple TV. I just created a test shared iCloud photo album with only 5 photos in it, and none of them have shown up on Apple TV, but they show up fine on my other Apple devices. Very annoying and waste of my time!

What is worse is that each time you go into iCloud Photos on the Apple TV and delete a photo, it reduces the number of iCloud photos that can be stored on the AppleTV photostream by one. So if you start out with the photostream capable of only holding 336 photos and then delete two photos, you now only get the abilty to hold just 334 in the AppleTV photostream. And, I can confirm that after a full reset of the AppleTV. The lowered limit remains. This just the latest in a series of software Apple has releaded in the last 6 months that just doesn't work!!

I have the same problem. Only 280 of my 323 icloud photos appear on Apple TV. Another problem is that the photos are not displayed by the shooting date. Apple TV displays the photos by the upload date. In my case, I have uploaded all my photos on december. So in Apple TV the photos appear all misted. I realy hope that apple solve these problems soon.

Same problem; however, I could add new (and I mean fresh off the camera, ipad, etc) to the stream... which indicated to me that, as someone said early on in the chain, photostream 'tends' to drop old photos when forced to update. But it seems you have to force it to update. Maybe...

To try this out, I created a new album in iPhoto. Selected all photos (old, and new) in the iCloud My Photostream shared album. Dragged them to the new Album. Then deleted them from the iCloud My Photostream album.

In a couple of minutes, my Apple TV showed that I had 0 (zero) items in Photostream (no logging out of anything).

Next, Reverse the process and copy them all back in.

Apple TV now plays all of them.

In a month I imagine I'll have to do it over again, but I can live with that until Apple has the wisdom to make this work as we want, rather than as they intended.

I've been following/contributing to this post since September 2013, and after constant trail and error the only thing I can think of that may be the cause of the problem is that Apple TV is suffering from a cache/memory/internal space issue since the update to 6.0.

I feel with the addition of iTunes Radio in 6.0, Apple TV's internal cache/memory has been reduced. As a consequence the ability to handle the same amount of pictures over the Photo Stream has been reduced too. Can anyone else confirm this?

We all know that all of our photos do not show on our Apple TV Photo Stream but all show on our other devices. And don't let anyone tell you that Photo Stream only shows up to the latest pictures over the last 30 days. I've removed my pictures from the Stream and refreshed them. All 911 are on repopulated on my other devices - only 319 show on my Apple TV. And while the pictures in my other devices are listed chronologicaly in the order I took them, Apple TV has no such order.

As ambgma suggests, Home Sharing is an alternative. However, keep in mind that the folder(s) you share as a screen saver also suffer from the same cache/memory issue. For example, I share a folder called "Photo Stream Backup" with 911 pictures. When I set the folder as a screen saver over Home Share only half of the pictures are loaded and Apple TV does not refresh or retrieve other photos from the folder - this issue has been documented since before the 6.0 update.

Frustrating as pre-6.0 Apple TV worked like a charm. Still hoping for a fix but I have a feeling we won't see one.
