iCloud photo stream does not show all photos

I have 1000 photos is my photo stream, however on my Apple TV I just setup, I can only get 322 to show up in the iCloud Photo Stream. I've tried restoring and setting it up again, but I have the exact same numbers of photos.

Is there a reason I can only see 322 out of 1000 photos in my photo stream on the Apple TV?

Same issue, tried various restarts, reloading photos, turning stream on and off and no change. I am completely with you on this one, once upon a time these devices all worked, now I'm not sure what needs more attention my iphone, mac, ipad or apple tv between all the updates and things not sinking up properly it has made using apple products a really frustrating experience. I'm surprised they haven't fixed this photostream issue as these coments date back now 6 months, if not more.

I think i know why it happens. In Apple's site, they say "When you take a photo on an iOS device or import one from your digital camera, iCloud automatically pushes it to all your iOS devices, iPhoto or Aperture on your Mac, and the Pictures library on your PC. To conserve storage space, the photo stream on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch holds only your newest 1000 photos. Photos are stored for 30 days, so you have time to delete any you don’t want or save the ones you do. On your Mac, every picture from your photo stream is downloaded right to your photo library."

And it is how it works. I have turned of photo stream in all me devices ( iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Pc), and when i turn it on again, only de last month pictures where downloaded. Icloud only stores pictures taken in the last month. The iPhone, iPad and Apple TV stores de last 1000 pictures. For you to have them on all devices, you must start the photo stream in all devices at the same time.

I'm afraid that is not the issue here! iCloud on Apple TV simply does not work properly. It will just display a dark grey square where the picture should be, and if I click on the square, I just get the rotating loading icon. And yes, these are on recent pictures. The proof is, if I unplug the crApple TV, then plug it back in, iCloud works as expected...for a short time.

jet97 - not sure this is how it works...at least this is not the way it used to work.

For example, through Aperture or iPhoto you can backup your entire collection of photos (say you have 900 photos) and then delete them from your photo stream.

All your devices - iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac and AppleTV will show "zero" photos in the stream - this is correct.

Now, repopulate your photo stream with the 900 photo backup. Since they're all "reloaded" within 30 days, all 900 photos will show on your iPhone, iPad, iPod and Mac (it's actually a cool process to see the photos suddenly appear across all your devices at once). Unfortunately, the AppleTV will only take about half (or less) of your 900 photos. In fact, the choice of photos taken by AppleTV on its photo stream is random.

This was never the issue with AppleTV before the 6.0 update (i.e., all 900 photos would have shown in its photo stream). Why the change after the 6.0 update?

In my opinion, I feel the addition of iTunes radio has limited the amount of space the AppleTV can hold within the photo stream - don't know. Unfortunately, I do know that this has been an issue for a long time. Wish AppleTV photo stream would work like it did before the 6.0 update.

So, in today's WWDC it was announced that iOS8 (released this fall) will have iCloud Photo Library and it's described as, "Every photo you take. Now on all your devices."

Apple claims that with iCPL, "every photo, every edit, every album now lives in your iCloud Photo Library, easily viewable and consistent on all your devices. Automatically."

Although not running on iOS8, wonder if Apple TV gets this update too and it fixes the issues we've been having. I doubt it, but we'll see.

Obviously Mac doesn't run on iOS8, yet iCPL will be included with Yosemite after the first of the year.

I had this issue with v6.1.1. (and it was driving me nuts...) Here's what worked for me:

- Settings -> iCloud -> iCloud Photos Settings -> Turn Off My Photo Stream, Turn Off Photo Sharing

- Settings -> General -> Restart

- iCloud Photos -> Turn On iCloud Photos (and Yes to "Use iCloud Photos as Screen Saver if you'd like)

It points to a bug in the Apple TV photo caching system. I'm very disappointed to see the problem has been going on for a while and Apple doesn't seem to be paying attention to any of us on this thread.

Hope this helps. Hope this gets fixed soon.

The memory allocation on gen 3 devices seems to be getting smaller. In addition, iPhone photos are getting larger (though still no widescreen). Also, I think iCloud is not limiting them to '1080' size for Apple TV. So, photos that can't display in full resolution on a TV are being sent anyway and are using up the shrinking memory allocation. I guess Apple renting off space on the device for things I can't delete, only hide, such as NBA etc., is to blame.

Only solution is to upgrade I guess.

Customer satisfaction is important and no amount of advertising can force people to buy something they don't want. But corporate accountants never actually seem to get that.

SAME PROBLEM

but....

I'm not an iphoto user. I use Lightroom etc.. I've notice that the ONLY way I've been able to get my ATV to see any of my photos, is to import them in to iPhoto, then Command A to select them all, add them to the 'shared' section and in Preferences, iCloud, turn on the iCloud sharing.

The Home Sharing suggestions on itunes has issues. Also, make sure everything is JPEG suffixed.
