ios 7 cannot open mime-attachment.ics from outlook

I downloaded ios 7 the other day on my 4, and I cannot open my mime-attachment.ics from outlook. I have already deleted and reinstalled my mail account from which these files originate, without any success. Amy Ideas?

iPhone 4, iOS 7

I had the same problem. I went into Settings - Mail,Contacts,Calendars Then selected the mail account in question, scroll to the bottom, clicked on Advanced, then turned on S/MIME. Old invites still didn't work but once they were resent, the proper and clickable attachments were there. Worked like a charm.

Hi all,

Same problem. None of the suggestions worked for me. Even the innovative work aroung by alstarck (in outlook uncheck ICalendar) is no good since i get ?????? in the mail header and when trying to create an event it creats it on current date and not in the intended date.

If this ICS business is not fixed soon I'm seriously considering dropping Iphone alltogether because this is the last strow, in addition to the very poor ICalendar-Outlook communication. It hurts my work.

Any Idea/knowledge/comfort?

Thanks

I have a work-around:

In Outlook, go to.. Tools:Options:Preferences:Calendar Options

Under Advanced Options, make sure "When sending meeting requests over Internet, use iCalendar format" is Unchecked.

Send out invitations normally. When they come to your iPhone, the Date and Time will be in hypertext. When you click on the Date/Time, three options are displayed. Click "Create Event". The appointment gets created in your iCalendar on your phone and is copied to iCloud.

FINALLY! A work around that actually worked for me!! This is still going to be a pain in the butt until Apple bothers to fix it's screw up. But for the first time in months, I can actually see the details of the appointments my assistant sends to me while I'm out of the office. Thanks, iamfarrkin!! 🙂

Here's a workaround that's worked very well for me, which is based on the fact that the gmail app can handle outlook invites:

1. Create a rule that sends a copy of all invitation requests to your gmail account

2. Generate a link to your gmail calendar to be used for sharing

3. Use that link to add a calendar to your iCloud account, which will sync with your gmail calendar

4. Open your calendar invite from the gmail app. When you accept the invite it will notify the sender, the event will be added to your gmail calendar and then automatically be added to your IOS calendar.

Once setup properly it works very smoothly. Hope that helps.

When it takes about an hour to search through discussion boards and support forums to find some help on opening the very basic and simple mime-attachemnt.ics, and another hour to do the work around (resending several e-mails, accepting, confirming), and then looking at this miserable calendar one may wonder: is this for real? Sorry Apple, this is unacceptable, as a matter of fact this is a joke.
