Why does my iphone 4 not deleting my messages. I delete the message my messages then it messes with the other messages i have. I restart my phone everything goes back to normal and the message i been trying to delete is still there. What do i do?

I will delete the attachments in my iTunes backup before I setup my 5s, which should arrive early next week. Basically the fix is to backup in iTunes, and then use a tool such as iBackupBot to edit your iTunes backup to remove the stale attachments. And then restore phone with said backup.
Since I plan to restore from iTunes when I get my new phone anyway, I will delete it from the backup archive before I restore.
