ios7 keeps refreshing apps after switching

I dont know if this is a new "feature", but it's really annoying.

If i have, say, an open webpage in Safari, and say i've scrolled down the page and zoomed in to a section i'm interested in, then switch to Mail to get some info, and then switch back to the webpage, the webpage will refresh and take me back to the top.

It's REALLY annoying.

Why can't it just stay where it was, like in ios6??

Is anyone else having this issue? Can anyone think of a fix?

I haven't visited this forum for a while. In my nativity I assumed that the app refresh problem would magically improve in iOS 8. It seems that not only has this problem not been fixed but many users are now reporting other performance issues. I for one will not be upgrading my iPad 2 from iOS 7.1.2.

It appears that we have to accept that Apple products now have a shorter practical lifespan than was once the case. My hopeless experiences with Apple support both online and at Apple stores together with Apple's complete lack of concern or acknowledgement of the issues repeatedly raised on this forum are deeply disappointing. Not to mention Apple's heavy-handed censoring of posts including their autocratic insistence that I change my username, 'helveticum', as it was "inappropriate or offensive".

I so hoped that iOS 8 would be a turning point and that we would see a return to innovative excellence. Perhaps we have to accept that Apple now produces mass-market devices that appeal to the more casual user. I am in the process of weaning myself off Apple kit and finding alternatives.

I've certainly suffered this annoying problem since iOS 7, and I'm still suffering this issue in iOS 8. In fact I think its even worse in iOS 8, although that might be just that iOS 8 is more resource hungry and I'm still on a 4s. Be interesting to hear if any 6 and 6 Plus users are having this issue.

I take it Android phones don't suffer this issue, I might actually consider moving to one, after more than a year of this frustration I think i'm done.

Had my iPhone 6 now for a week a and havent noticed the issue! At least not so far... However I just updated my iPad 2 to iOS 8.0.2, and the issue persists... Like Jimmy5rings I also had a 4s and had this problem, and to add to it, it was a 32g with 32g of stuff on it so that surely helped nothing haha... Anyway, my experience so far with the iPhone 6 (4.7) has been fantastic... Matter of fact just today, after I updated to 8.0.2 early yesterday morning, I noticed that everything was so blazing fast I couldn't believe it... I've never had this type of speed... It was crazy fast just pop pop pop pop from one thing to the next... Awesome.... But I will report back if I have any new noticed issues of the refreshing kind.... So far, all good for me... But my iPad 2 can't keep up with my typing here in an apple forum and is lagging like crazy... Can't win em all I guess hahaha....

I Have an iPad 2 and iPhone 4s still on 6.x where it will remain until this is fixed. Anyone have an update for iOS8 yet? I have a 32 GB iPad Air but it is full of apps and don't want to upgrade iOS if it takes up more space and still has the bug. I have iPhone 6 too but again waiting.

If anyone has seen anything good for performance improvements with iPad 2 or iPhone 4s and iOS 8.0.2 let me know.

I've been following this thread for months. My hope was that iOS 8 would fix this issue, but it has not. The usability of my iPhone is greatly affected by this issue, and it's a very frustrating problem to have. I've decided that Apple will not address nor fix this issue and so I either need to be resigned to a phone without multitasking, or switch platforms. For now I'm wallowing in resignation because I'm invested in this platform. A thanks to the community here without which we'd have no answers.

RE: This issue was already fixed in iOS 7.1.x

If you read this entire thread you'll see that simply isn't the case for anyone. And, it certainly wasn't the case for me.

RE: Seems to be a device independent bug, because also the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are affected.

That's correct all devices have and continue to be affected since this issues was first noted in this thread about a year ago.
